We are looking for a skilled Controller/Accountant with a strong background in the real estate and development industry to join our dynamic team.

Job Summary:

The Controller will be responsible for overseeing all financial activities, including accounts payable, tax filing, and financial reporting. This role requires a deep understanding of real estate accounting, financial management, and development project financing. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, highly organized, and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.

Key Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting and Analysis:
Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
Ensure compliance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements.
Accounts Payable and Receivable:
Oversee the accounts payable process, ensuring timely and accurate payments to vendors.
Manage accounts receivable, including billing, collections, and reconciliations.
Monitor cash flow and manage working capital requirements.
Tax Compliance and Filing:
Prepare and file federal, state, and local tax returns.
Ensure compliance with all tax regulations and deadlines.
Liaise with external tax advisors and auditors as needed.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
Develop and maintain annual budgets and long-term financial forecasts.
Monitor budget performance and provide variance analysis.
Assist in strategic planning and financial decision-making.
Real Estate and Development Accounting:
Maintain accurate records of real estate transactions, including acquisitions, disposals, and leasing.
Track and report on development project costs, budgets, and schedules.
Ensure proper capitalization and depreciation of real estate assets.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years in the real estate or development industry.
Strong knowledge of GAAP, tax regulations, and real estate accounting principles.
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Yardi, QuickBooks, Sage) and Microsoft Office Suite.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy and integrity.
