We are looking for an Antitrust Counsel to join our team.

The Job Brief:

The Antitrust Counsel is responsible for assisting the Director of the NAAG Center for Consumer Protection (Center) in developing and advancing the Center’s work in antitrust and competition.

The Antitrust Counsel position in the Center for Consumer Protection has a broad range of responsibilities including initiating, coordinating, improving, and executing antitrust trainings, as well as assisting with consumer protection, privacy, charities, veterans/military, and other related trainings as necessary; serving as faculty on trainings; developing new in-person and online courses; researching relevant and timely topics, and writing and editing publications related to those topics; assisting with communications; and uploading to/operating websites. The Counsel will serve as an in-house expert on antitrust and competition topics and as liaison to various NAAG committees as assigned. As NAAG continues to grow, the Program Counsel’s role will evolve with the expectation of gaining subject matter expertise in emerging areas of interest to the AGO community. The Counsel may also be called upon to serve as faculty or assist with events in areas outside of antitrust and consumer protection, e.g., litigation skills trainings, from time to time as the need arises. Innovativeness, creativity, initiative, follow-through, attention to detail, and collegiality are the hallmark qualities expected of those holding this position. Occasional domestic travel is required for this position.

The Antitrust Counsel will report to the Director of Consumer Protection.

Core Duties:

Develop, execute, and serve as Lead Faculty for antitrust trainings and other NAAG trainings as assigned, at AGOs, other locations domestically and internationally, and on online;
Develop new courses, including a focus on online curricular development, and update existing courses on topics and areas assigned based on NAAG’s evolving needs;
Serve as faculty at trainings, which includes using/gaining antitrust and competition subject-matter expertise; giving presentations; facilitating skills-based sessions and providing substantive feedback for attendees and preparing training materials for attendee use, including PowerPoint presentations, visual aids, and substantive materials;
Conduct research for the benefit of the attorney general community;
Develop content for NAAG’s public-facing and members-only websites;
Write and edit publications in support of the attorney general community;
Serve as resident expert in legal areas as assigned;
Participate in antitrust-focused and other related panels as a representative of the attorney general community;
Develop and over see NAAG's antitrust webinars;
Support NAAG Committees as assigned to include facilitating conference calls, preparing agendas and memos, and following up on action items;
Perform other tasks based on the needs of NAAG.

Is This You?

University degree;
J.D. degree from an accredited law school;
Bar license that is active and in good standing in the jurisdiction in which you practice;
At least five years’ experience in antitrust matters as an attorney in a dynamic legal environment, preferably that of an attorney general’s office or related state or federal agency. To be considered for an interview, applicants without government legal/enforcement experience must address in their cover letter how their legal experiences will satisfy the requirements of this position.
Quality leadership experience in maximizing organizational or individual performance;
Experience conducting legal trainings and public speaking;
The ability to identify emerging areas and cultivate curricula, develop relationships with colleagues, and create engaging in-person and virtual content;
Develop grant applications and manage grants as opportunities arise;
The ability to work independently, and while traveling, with minimal administrative support and as part of a team on special projects or programs;
Work throughout NAAG to ensure workplace effectiveness in furtherance of NAAG’s Strategic Plans, including through team meetings, retreats, and related assignments;
Computer savviness and ability/willingness to learn the unknown;
Experience with online education a plus; and
Experience updating a website a plus.

Location:

This position is a hybrid position that will require occasional travel to the NAAG headquarters, located in Washington D.C. In addition, travel will be required for meetings, and conferences.

Terrific Total Compensation Package:

Salary range for this position is $120,000.00-$125,000.00, commensurate with experience.
Exceptional benefits package which includes paid time off, health, dental, vision, life/disability, long-term care, and 401k retirement plan (with employer match and profit sharing).
Position will be 37.50 hours per week.
