We are seeking an experienced Estimator to join our dynamic team in San Diego, CA. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing accurate and comprehensive cost estimates for complex construction projects, ensuring competitive and profitable bids. This individual will bring a strategic mindset, technical expertise, and the ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders throughout the bidding process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cost Estimation & Analysis: Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and other project-related expenses. Evaluate project feasibility and profitability.
- Bidding Strategy: Develop competitive bid strategies by leveraging deep knowledge of industry trends, market conditions, and the company’s unique value proposition.
- Blueprint Analysis: Review and interpret blueprints, construction plans, and specifications to determine project scope and requirements.
- Subcontractor Management: Solicit, evaluate, and negotiate subcontractor bids and proposals to ensure cost efficiency and quality standards.
- Value Engineering: Identify cost-saving opportunities and alternative solutions to maximize project value while maintaining design intent.
- Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with project managers, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to clarify project details and resolve discrepancies.
- Risk Assessment: Identify and analyze potential risks, ensuring estimates account for contingencies and unforeseen factors.
- Data Management: Maintain and update cost databases, historical data, and estimating tools to improve accuracy and efficiency.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Accounting, Finance, or related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in construction estimating, with a focus on commercial, residential, educational, healthcare, office, TI project experience.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and industry best practices.
- Proficiency in estimating software.
