Job Summary
The Payoff Specialist is responsible for the timely and accurate processing of all payoffs, including providing quotes, processing funds and completing the necessary legal documents to obtain a discharge/release of mortgage. Assists in the development, implementation and monitoring of procedures within the payoff function.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Processes payoff requests in a timely and accurate manner. Prepares payoff quotes within required timeframes.
- Responds to inquiries and customer service requests related to the payoff process. Handles more complex calls, performing research, resolving issues and communicating with internal/external clients when needed.
- Prepares and records the release/discharge document in the timeframe and manner established by state law.
- Monitors all phases of the payoff process to ensure compliance with state, federal, investor and Company guidelines.
- Miscellaneous duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required
Experience
- 1-3 years of mortgage loan servicing experience required
- Cash processing experience a plus
Functional/Technical Skills
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to handle multiple priorities
- Effectively manages time and meets deadlines
- Possesses strong mathematical skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Knowledge of LPS servicing system a plus
- Experience working with Microsoft Windows applications
