Title: Supervisor III, HVAC Skilled Trade
Responsible for the supervision of in-house and contracted installations, operations, scheduling, maintenance, and replacement/repair of HVAC mechanical and control systems for the DeKalb County School District (DCSD).
Essential Functions:
• Supervises, directs, and evaluates HVAC Techs and Contracted HVAC/Control vendors.
• Reviews and assigns work orders for various work requests.
• Inspects and conducts building inspections throughout DCSD to ensure safety codes and standards are followed.
• Collaborates and coordinates with outside vendors for necessary repairs to HVAC equipment at school sites.
• Manages resources, sets expectations for service, and exerts quality control to ensure responsiveness to school needs.
• Assists HVAC staff with concerns or questions throughout DCSD.
• Attends weekly meetings and provides weekly updates on schools.
• Coordinates scope of work with contractors and school administrators.
• Assists with the procurement of parts and supplies.
• Schedules and ensures the completion of corrective and preventative maintenance work is in compliance.
• Maintains necessary records and prepares reports concerning operations and performance.
• Communicates with supervisor every morning on job plan.
• Communicates with schools on the status of requests for services.
• Provide support where needed in DCSD.
• Provide continuous training to HVAC staff on a weekly, monthly, and annual basis.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from a Professional Standards Commission approved accredited college or university preferred.
• Minimum three (3) years supervisory-level work experience in engineering, architecture, facilities management, or closely related experience required.
• Valid Driver’s License required.
• Multiple-location management experience preferred.
• General knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, refrigeration, energy management or building systems preferred.
• Universal CFC Certification 3, DDC (Digital Demand Control) OEM instructed Technical Credentials, and one or more current certification/licenses as follows:
• GDOL (Georgia Department of Labor Certificate of Authority to install, repair and operate boilers to 250 hp
• Unrestricted HVAC license I the State of Georgia
• 1st class NIULPE (National Institute for Uniform Licensing of Power Engineer0 license
• NATE (North American Technician Excellence) certification in all Service, Installation, and Senior Technician categories.
