Job Title: Finance Manager
Shift: Full Time, 40-hour work week
Reports To: Chief Financial Officer
Summary:
This position is responsible for managing the day-to-day accounting and finance operations of the company, leading the budget analysis, and forecasting. The role will work alongside the Controller ensuring regulatory compliance and accurate financial reporting. Both roles report directly to the CFO.
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Manages all accounting functions including but not limited to treasury, state reporting, premium receivable, account payable, GAAP & Statutory Financial reporting
· Analyzes financial performance through KPIs and provides recommendations for improvement
· Develops, maintains, and analyzes budgets and variance analysis by product lines
· Provides management with timely reviews of organization’s financial status and progress
· Hires, trains, supervises, motivates, and develops team members; manages schedules and workflow.
· Performs other related duties as assigned by CFO
· Works closely with senior leadership to carry out strategies to align with business objectives
· Be a liaison between Finance & Accounting and other departments to ensure smooth coordination
Supervisory Responsibilities:
· Supervises 4-6 employees within the department
· Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws
· Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training/ developing employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in finance and accounting or related field with a minimum of 5 years in a Property and Casualty Insurance Company with at least 2 years in a management role.
· Solid understanding and comprehension of US GAAP and Statutory accounting and financial statements
· Experience with the preparation and review of the NAIC Annual Statement
· Familiarity with department of Insurance regulations
· Understanding of insurance agency accounting
· Demonstrated career progression with a string desire to continue learning and advancing
Skills Required:
· Extensive understanding of financial trends within the insurance industry, including RBC, Loss Ratio, Combined Ratio
· A solid understanding of financial statistics within GAAP and Statutory accounting principles
· Working knowledge of statutory insurance principles
· Understanding of reinsurance
· Understanding and mitigation of financial risks specific to the insurance industry
· Accounting, Finance, Budgeting software evaluation, selection and implementation
· Strong interpersonal, communication, presentation and leadership skills
· Strong analytical skills
· Demonstrated ability to lead/ guide and manage a team
