Position: Materials Automation Industrial Engineer
Duration: 1 year minimum + extensions
Location: Fort Wayne, IN - may have to travel to other US based GM plants up to 20% of the time
Must Haves:
- 5+ years of experience executing projects/launches in a plant engineering position (preferably in the automotive industry or related fast-paced manufacturing environment)
- Experience implementing automation (preferably AMR's (autonomous mobile robots))
- Key experience with material transformation – new technologies, material flow, material handling equipment automation, and Factory of the Future Material concepts.
- Experience supporting layout reviews and analysis
Day to Day: As a Materials Movement and Automation Industrial Engineer, you will be responsible for executing robotic or automated equipment in General Assembly or Bodyshop. The role would also include layout changes, communicating with supplier and plant, financial PO approval, and progressing through each stage of design. Other job responsibilities include:
• Identify and evaluate potential automated sequencing opportunities for implementations to reduce waste and improve operational efficiency.
• Support layout reviews and analysis
• Optimize material flow process through automation projects. This includes analyzing the current processes and developing future processes for automation.
• Conduct feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses for proposed manufacturing innovation and automation projects.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including product engineering, manufacturing operations, and IT to ensure seamless integration of new technologies and processes.
