Charleston area family-owned real estate company seeking qualified Operations Controller to join their team.
General Responsibilities
• Accounting and reporting for all company-related entities, as well as board and management reporting.
• Cash management and tracking.
• Coordination with ongoing lending relationships.
• Risk management and insurance oversight.
• Income and property tax compliance.
• Administration of the Company’s mortgage program.
• Assist the President with underwriting and analyzing investment opportunities to include real estate, public and private investments, and other alternatives.
• Special projects as needed.
Job Requirements
• At least ten years in progressively responsible financial management and accounting roles with real estate concerns or accounting firms serving real estate clients.
• Strong accounting and reporting skills. Candidates will need to have a thorough understanding of GAAP reporting requirements, be capable of delivering timely financial statements & metrics for management to use in running the business and have a strong working knowledge of income tax codes.
• Diverse analytical skills. Candidates will need to innately understand how numbers fit together, be proficient in developing cash flow forecasting models & budget analysis, and perform ad hoc analysis for alternative investments.
• Results oriented. The ideal candidate is a self-starter and self-managed with a heightened sense of internal expectations and high standards. The candidate needs to have self-imposed high performance and accountability standards, be a doer accustomed to rolling up his/her sleeves to make things happen, and have a balanced sense of urgency.
• Organizational skills. Candidates should be accustomed to an environment where multi-tasking is the norm and practice the right balance between details and big picture.
• Professional presence. Candidates need to have a personal style that suggests he/she will be effective in dealing with the Company's bankers, investors, and/or key suppliers.
• Team player. While the candidate should be ambitious, this ambition should be directed at the success of the company/team rather than at personal goals. The ideal candidate will have strong convictions for overall success.
• Candidate will have the highest standard of ethics and integrity in all personal and professional matters.
• Bachelor's Degree or greater, preferably in accounting or finance. A CPA are required.
• In Office participation. Remote work is available but limited.
