Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline or relevant work experience.
- 8-10+ years of engineering experience in a fast-paced consumer packaged goods setting.
- Proven expertise in implementing lean manufacturing/six sigma/ root cause analysis
Summary
Responsible for designing and optimizing methods to maintain or enhance process efficiencies while reducing production costs and improving yields, quality, and safety. You will provide technical expertise and leadership in equipment installation, modifications, and project execution to support facility expansions and process improvements. Additionally, you will manage projects by developing scopes of work, estimating costs, and overseeing implementation timelines. Working closely with stakeholders, you will design and specify equipment systems that drive operational efficiency, product quality, and cost reductions.
Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership & Process Optimization
- Lead the design team in the conceptual phase of project development, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
- Develop and execute action plans, including resource allocation, labor, materials, and timelines.
- Oversee project development, ensuring adherence to budget, schedules, and performance metrics in collaboration with the project management team.
- Assess vendors for competency, resources, and financial stability; review and negotiate bid documents.
- Modify project plans as needed to address challenges or changing conditions.
Engineering Design & Troubleshooting
- Create conceptual engineering designs and floor plans for process equipment installations and modifications.
- Identify and troubleshoot process inefficiencies, developing solutions to reduce downtime and costs.
- Determine optimal layouts for piping, equipment, and utilities to support engineering changes.
- Coordinate process control initiatives with corporate engineering teams.
- Conduct research and technical studies, performing hands-on trials alongside production teams.
Documentation & Compliance
- Develop and maintain process documentation, including process descriptions, scopes of work, and technical drawings.
- Review and critique process improvement proposals, equipment submittals, and engineering designs.
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations, advising operations, maintenance, and project teams accordingly.
- Maintain an organized documentation library, including drawings, manuals, and standards.
Leadership & Training
- Provide mentorship and training to process engineers and other engineering team members.
- Assist in the transition of capital projects to the production plant team, ensuring a seamless implementation.
- Adapt to modern technologies and continuously seek process improvement opportunities.
