Job Description:
The Construction Field Representative is responsible for all activities related to project contract administration, ensuring efficiency, quality assurance, and timely project close-out. This role serves as the client’s agent during the construction phase and acts as an impartial interpreter between the client and the contractor.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide constructability expertise and support to staff.
- Improve Construction Administration processes with a focus on efficiency and quality assurance.
- Serve as a liaison between the client, contractor, and architectural project manager.
- Oversee contract administration between the client and contractor.
- Conduct milestone reviews of design development drawings and construction documents.
- Participate in pre-construction and construction meetings with clients and contractors.
- Administer and coordinate mechanical, electrical, and structural site issues.
- Monitor project performance and provide monthly construction updates.
- Mentor junior staff through a Construction Shadow Program.
- Ensure timely project completion and manage financial performance metrics.
Qualifications:
- 10+ years of multi-family wood-frame design experience or 12+ years of wood-frame construction experience.
- Bachelor's degree in Architecture or Construction Management (or equivalent experience).
- Must have Type V construction experience and understanding of code.
- Must be able to lift 40 lbs and navigate construction sites, including climbing stairs and ladders.
- Thorough knowledge of materials, construction methods, and building codes.
- Understanding of The Fair Housing Act, ADA regulations, and accessibility requirements.
- Ability to lead meetings, communicate clearly, and make decisive decisions.
- Willingness to learn new technology related to Construction Administration.
- Experience managing multiple projects and teams.
- Arizona Registered Architect preferred.
Additional Details:
- Employment Type: Permanent
- Start Date: Immediate
- Schedule: 4x9-hour days + half-day Fridays; must be in the office by 8 AM for meetings. May allow 1 remote day per week (not Monday or Friday).
- Interview Process: Two rounds – initial in-person interview with the Director of Operations (potentially joined by the president), followed by a virtual final interview. Both rounds last approximately 1.5 hours.
- Reporting To: Project Director and Director of Operations.
