Network Engineer (Cisco, Aruba)
Optomi, in partnership with a leading consulting firm, is seeking an experienced Network Engineer to join their Wichita, KS office! This role is ideal for professionals with 7+ years of experience in network administration and 5+ years in IT infrastructure, with a strong background in Cisco, Aruba, and network monitoring tools. Experience of the right candidate:
- 7+ years of experience in network administration roles.
- Minimum of 5 years in IT infrastructure domain.
- Extensive experience with Datacenter Cisco Nexus Switches (5K, 7K, 9K).
- Advanced knowledge of core network infrastructure technologies and protocols, including campus routing & switching, WLAN, 802.1x, STP, EIGRP, and BGP.
- Experience designing and implementing network solutions aligned with industry best practices.
- Strong troubleshooting skills for diagnosing network issues across various environments.
- Hands-on experience with chassis switches, redundancy technologies like VSS, HSRP, SSO, and VPC.
- Familiarity with Cisco DNAC, SD-WAN, and AWS networking (DirectConnect, VPCs, Transit Gateways, etc.).
- Knowledge of wireless networks, particularly Cisco and Aruba APs, and integration with Cisco ISE for authentication.
- Expertise in RADIUS, TACACS, and AAA protocols.
- Experience with load balancer technologies and network operating systems like Cisco IOS XE, NX-OS, and Aruba/HP.
- Ability to produce Root Cause Analysis (RCA) reports for major incidents with minimal supervision.
- Proficiency in using tools like Visio, MS PowerPoint, and ServiceNow for documentation and ticketing.
Responsibilities of the right candidate:
- Manage Incident/Ticket Handling, Change/Configuration Management, and Problem Management with root cause analysis.
- Design and install computer networks, connections, and cabling from onsite data centers.
- Troubleshoot system failures, identify bottlenecks, and implement solutions to improve network performance.
- Configure and support network components such as Routers, Switches, Access Points, and Wireless Controllers.
- Document network architecture and configurations using Visio and related tools.
- Provide on-call support for P1 and P2 incidents after business hours.
- Support and increase network capacity across current sites and resolve connectivity issues for various devices, including mobile devices, handheld scanners, and manufacturing equipment.
- Experience with Monitoring Tools and Enterprise Monitoring Solutions.
- Proficiency in ServiceNow for ITSM and ticket management.
- Familiarity with DNAC is a plus.
- Minimum Certifications Needed: Cisco CCNA certification required.
- Desired Certifications Needed: CCNP, CCIE, or JNCIE certifications preferred. MCSE certification is a plus.
