Responsibilities:
• Responsible for the design and development of efficient automotive BIW static sealing strategies, components, and manufacturing designs to deliver the highest level of performance in NVH and air & water sealing, from program initiation through production
• Design with excellence at the system and component level with great attention to detail, creating optimized designs for performance, size, weight, durability and cost
• Guide the design of the BIW through criteria to assure sealing, manufacturing, and performance requirements are met
• Emphasis on the ability to meet sealing requirements while maximizing the attributes delivered to the customer
• Coordinate virtual engineering and physical validation testing activities for your designs
• Determine required tolerances using GD&T.Ensure sealing strategies are robust to variation
Qualifications:
• 5+ years of expertise in automotive BIW sealing systems and sub-systems at OEM or supplier desired
• Demonstrated product launch experience and issue resolution capability
• Extensive knowledge of products and processes applicable for body structures sealing such as pumpable sealers and adhesives, baffles, foams, and sealing tapes.
• Be able to drive the design of the BIW from a sealing perspective and to ensure the BIW can be sealed robustly by design
• Be able to deliver an optimized overall strategy consistent with the planned BIW assembly proces
• Be able to root cause sealing issues, and quickly develop and deploy solutions
• Solid track record of successful system level integration
• Proven 3D CAD skills, proficient with CATIA V5/V6 or similar software
• Hands-on practical experience in prototype assembly and production assembly with the willingness to assemble your own parts
• Detail oriented personality with a determined problem-solving attitude using an Engineering first principles approach
• Proof of excellence in your past position, while demonstrating profound creativity in resolving mechanical design problems
Education:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or equivalent from ABET accredited institution or equivalent body structures automotive experience
