Mechanical Design Manager – Custom Automation
A growing automation solutions provider is seeking a hands-on Mechanical Design Manager to lead and contribute to the design of custom automation assembly systems. If you thrive in a dynamic environment and enjoy working on cutting-edge automation solutions, this role is for you!
What You’ll Do:
- Lead the mechanical design efforts for automation systems, collaborating with internal teams and customers.
- Produce, review, and update mechanical designs and drawings to meet specifications and standards.
- Oversee the entire machine design lifecycle—from planning and modeling to testing and implementation.
- Work closely with leadership and key stakeholders to align automation capabilities with business goals.
- Support existing automation technology with component and process upgrades.
- Manage customer correspondence, including approvals, design changes, and agreements.
- Guide and mentor a team of two mechanical designers.
Qualifications:
- At least 7 years of experience in custom automation assembly.
- Strong background in mechanical design and automation engineering.
- Proficient in SolidWorks (2023/2024) and MS Office.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and time management skills.
- Excellent mechanical aptitude and ability to model new and existing mechanical components.
- Legally authorized to work in the U.S. (Visa sponsorship not available).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior leadership or project engineering experience is a plus, but we will consider a Senior Mechanical Designer looking to step into a leadership role.
- Degree not required—experience and skills matter more!
