Position Summary: Reporting to the Director of Advance Operations Technology, this position will be responsible for identifying and improving key operations processes which are critical to G&W's continued growth. This role will manage cross functional projects delivering transformative improvement to the safety, quality, delivery, and cost of our epoxy molding and assembly operations through innovation and advancement of processing techniques.
The role is responsible to achieve results through the elimination of waste from our production processes, the implementation of new technology and production methods, and by educating and empowering our production staff. This role also serves as the technical lead for on operations projects, guiding engineering and assembly staff to the desired outcomes.
Primary/Essential Responsibilities: - Responsible for innovation, driving advancement of processing techniques to support the long-term vision of growth with efficiency, reducing cost, improving safety and quality.
- Responsible for project execution, including scope definition, resource planning, cost/budget planning, project schedule development and tracking, and risk management. Project can include New Product Development launches, large or small scale automation projects, or large capacity increase plans.
- Review and write reports and presentations, approve expenditures, and enforce company policy. Communicates and collaborates with other managers and departments. Prepare and deliver executive-level presentations as required.
- Collaborate closely with manufacturing, engineering, maintenance, and machine builders/integrators in the development of new and modified manufacturing processes. Specifies, recommends, plans and works with maintenance/suppliers to install new equipment.
- Stay up to date with the latest technology, tools, and improvement strategies, utilizing to define and develop manufacturing process solutions, including tooling and equipment specifications/requirements, manufacturing site requirements, manufacturing process flow and building/work cell layouts.
- Utilizes Lean, Six Sigma, and 3P tools to drive manufacturing cost reduction and improve efficiencies in molding, testing/Inspection, Fabrication/Welding, powder coat painting, switch assembly, and automated lines.
Assists in the hiring, training, and mentoring of manufacturing engineers, automation and control engineers and/or process engineers and support staff to work to their full potential.
Required Qualifications: Describe the minimum required education, experience (type and years), and skill/competencies
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or related field required. Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Electrical Engineering preferred.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification required.
- 10+ years of manufacturing engineering work experience, with experience in assembly and molding processes
- 5+ years of experience with implementation of automated processing equipment in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with new product launches
- Proficient with spreadsheet, presentation software and typical computer applications
- Proficient with 3D CAD/modeling software
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications: - The ideal candidate will have a history of creativity, innovation, and initiative. A self-starter driven to learn new methodologies.
- Six sigma, Red X, or other problem-solving certification
- Lean Manufacturing experience
