The RN SHWM Float Pool is a role that a nurse assumes on an assignment basis. As such, all responsibilities, requirements, and essential functions of the staff nurse role within the unit/department for the assignment apply to them in the SHWM RN Float Pool nurse role. Requirements of the staff nurse role within the area they are assigned must still be followed (refer to the Specialty RN job description for details related to job requirements. Float team members have the option to travel to various locations and regions
Scope of work
Delivers nursing care responsibly and accountably as described professionally by the American Nurses Association (ANA) and legally by the State of Michigan. Demonstrates competency through the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. This includes assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, and evaluation. Upholds the standards of professional performance as described by the ANA. This includes ethical practice, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence-based practice and research, quality of practice, professional practice evaluation, resource utilization and environmental health. Strives to achieve optimal outcomes.

Qualifications
- Associate degree Nursing Required
- Bachelor’s in Nursing Required within 5 years
- Successful completion of a competency-based orientation program Required
- Registered Nurse (RN) State of Michigan Upon Hire Required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) All unless otherwise noted 90 Days Required
- CRT-Adv Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) - AHA American Heart Association 180 Days required
- CRT- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) 180 Days Required
- 2+ years of OR RN Experience preferred
