Assumes primary responsibility for documenting components of the nursing process and patient's progress toward meeting outcomes in the patient's chart including patient education. Professionalism. Demonstrates professional practice responsibility. Demonstrates knowledge of policies and procedures and is able to identify areas for clinical and professional growth. Patient Satisfaction. Demonstrates use of safe transfer techniques and proper body mechanics for self, and patient's. Unit Specific Job Function. Demonstrates knowledge of the conditions/diagnoses, procedures and equipment encountered for surgical patient's. Individualizes patient care according to the procedure and type of anesthesia across the continuum of care. Assesses patient reaction and understanding of procedure/instructions. Responsibility and Accountability. Contributes to the perioperative team by assuming responsibility and accountability for directing patient care by prioritizing the care of patient's depending on their needs and any changes in their condition. Patient Education and Chart Completion. Assesses patient's understanding of surgical procedure/instructions, actively including the patient and family members in teaching. Performs pre-operative and postoperative assessment and education. Duties Specific to PAT RN. Supports the completion of patient testing in a timely manner. Evaluates Pre Admission Testing (PAT) orders for appropriateness and for potential omissions based on proposed surgery, patient age, and current state of health. Physical Requirements: As defined by Occupation Safety/OMS Education/Experience: 2 years critical care experience Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing Associates or Bachelor's Degree - Preferred Certification/License: RN License - Required BLS - Required ACLS - Required COVID Requirements: Proof of either The primary vaccine series plus at least one booster OR The Bivalent COVID vaccine that was first offered in September 2023 OR The Monovalent COVID vaccine
