Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is adding a Principal Electronics Engineer (Network Communications) or Senior Principal Electronics Engineer (Network Communications) to join our team supporting the Avionics Integration organization. This position will undergo training in Rancho Bernardo, CA or Jacksonville, FL (depending on selected candidate’s geographical location) with a final assignment location in the United Arab Emirates.
This position will ensure end to end data communication performance, system interoperability, and delivery that meets the need in accordance with the performance specifications.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Perform field integration, troubleshooting, and repair of communications and data link systems in military flight test environment, including operations on a flightline, in a hangar, and in command and control centers.
Perform/support review and analysis of supplier design data, definition of functional test requirements including acceptance, qualification, and system integration.
Responsibility for the testing, maintenance, and integration of Comms and Networks equipment such as radio terminals, software loads, switches, routers, and firewalls required to support ground and flight test operations.
Interfacing with other engineers and support personnel to troubleshoot any network related issues.
Work with system administrators, maintainers, and onsite personnel to troubleshoot and repair any internal operational issues.
This position may be filled at either the Principal Electronics Engineer (Network Communications) or Senior Principal Electronics Engineer (Network Communications) level, depending upon the qualifications below.
Basic Qualifications for Principal Electronics Engineer (Network Communications):
Bachelor’s Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) field with 5 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master’s Degree in STEM with 3 years of related engineering experience; OR a PhD in STEM with 0 years of related engineering experience.
Experience with communications technologies. Examples include: Internet Protocol (IP) networks, Voice over IP (VoIP), Information Assurance (IA), satellite and Line-of-Sight (LOS) RF communications, control interfaces, and/or co-site interference.
Expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, firewalls, switches
Active, in-scope DoD Top Secret clearance
Ability to gain and maintain SCI access
Ability to support assignment at location (UAE) for minimum of 24 months.
At some point, candidate may be required to obtain Special Program Access.

Bachelor’s Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) field with 9 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master’s Degree in STEM with 7 years of related engineering experience; OR a PhD in STEM with 4 years of related engineering experience.
Experience with communications technologies. Examples include: Internet Protocol (IP) networks, Voice over IP (VoIP), Information Assurance (IA), satellite and Line-of-Sight (LOS) RF communications, control interfaces, and/or co-site interference.
Expertise in all areas of network and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, firewalls, switches
Active, in-scope DoD Top Secret clearance
Ability to gain and maintain SCI access

Salary Range: $92,600 - $107,300
Salary Range 2: $114,900 - $199,600
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
