POSITION SUMMARY As a member of the Mountain Sports School supervisory team, the Child Care Supervisor is responsible for coordination and oversight of all aspects related to the daily operation of the child care facility in cooperation with the Child Care Manager. These operations include both guest, local, and employee child care. The Child Care Supervisor must ensure the development and safety of the children attending the Stratton child care facility is in accordance with state and federal legislation policies and procedures. The Child Care Supervisor ensures staff are supervised and compliant with the rules and regulations. The Child Care Supervisor will ensure that the child care staff is supervised, well-trained and that the facilities are clean, safe and maintained to department standards. The Child Care Supervisor must keep current, accurate and confidential client and program files. This is a full-time year-round benefit eligible position. The rate of pay for this position is $23/hr.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES- Fosters communication between parents and caregivers through daily interactions.
- Ensure classroom activities are developmentally appropriate for each room/group.
- Assist Teacher Associates with curriculum development and provide feedback as needed.
- Be knowledgeable in state licensing regulations for center-based care and help maintain compliance center wide.
- Encourage and assist teaching staff with transitions and behavior management.
- Assist the Child Care Manager in scheduling and managing guest, local, and employee reservations and contracts.
- Conduct and document monthly safety meetings per Stratton requirements, ensuring the departments compliance with Stratton safety protocols.
- Perform a variety of administrative tasks including the oversight of check-in and check-out and the management of reservations as needed.
- Assist with development and implementation of staff professional development and center wide orientation/policy training.
- Manage staff conflict, as needed, with the Child Care Manager.
- Responsible for managing and overseeing the child care center during Child Care Manager's absence.
- Complete required annual training hours as defined by the State of Vermont Department of Children and Families and the Child Care Manager.
- Must be willing to cover classrooms for teacher planning time or whenever state rations need to be maintained.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education required.
- Bachelors Degree preferred or degree in a related field.
- A Vermont Early Childhood and Afterschool Program Director Step One (1) Certificate required.
Experience:
- 3 to 5 years experience as a Teacher Associate or Assistant Director in a licensed child care program
- 1 to 2 years supervision and staff management experience.
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTSKnowledge of child development, theories, and practices, including safe and appropriate activities for children is paramount. Detailed understanding of relevant state legislation, regulation, policies, and procedure that ensure children are supervised and safe at all times. A strong understanding of business operation and financial management, with resort experience a plus.
This position requires strong skill sets in the areas of team building, staff supervision and development, effective written/verbal communication, analytical thinking, and problem solving, general expense and resource management, general office administration.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS Occasional travel may be required to attend educational functions.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS This position will require work during weekends and holidays.
Childcare Environment:- Able to lift, carry, or otherwise move children or equipment and position a minimum of 50 pounds on a regular basis.
- Able to maintain calm under pressure, prepared to act decisively while multitasking needs of multiple situations.
- Manual dexterity to operate a computer and other common office equipment on a constant basis.
- Auditory and visual acuity to operate computers, phones, mobile devices and basic office equipment on a constant basis.
- Ability to work for extended periods of time sitting, bending, reaching, and speaking on a constant basis.
- Ability to work for extended periods of time standing, walking, kneeling, pushing and pulling on an occasional basis.

Mountain Environment:- The primary physical environment in which this position works is outdoors with a high exposure level to cold, snow, wind, rain, bugs, sun, high altitude, extreme heights, lightning, etc...
- The degree of strenuous activity within the job is considered to be high. Often lifting a weight of 50 pounds throughout the day is common.
- Additional strenuous physical activity may include walking or hiking upon uneven, challenging terrain with heavy tools or equipment.
- Talking and hearing occur continuously in the process of communicating with guests, supervisors and other employees.
- Vision occurs continuously with the most common visual functions being those of near vision and depth perception.
