Job Summary
The Assistant CFO (ACFO), a member of the Executive Leadership Team, supports the facility Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in safeguarding hospital assets and ensuring the financial statements, including the books and records, are prepared and maintained in accordance with GAAP.

Frye Regional Medical Center, located in the beautiful foothills of North Carolina is a 355-bed acute care hospital, 81-bed Behavioral Health facility and more than 70 primary and specialty care providers.
Essential Functions
Oversees the operations of the Accounting/Finance Department including financial statement preparation, maintenance and accuracy of the general ledger, internal audit and SOX control, accounts payable, balance sheet reconciliations, and budget preparation
Implements and adheres to regulatory, GAAP, and other changes that affect the accounting cycle and provides timely and effective service to both internal and external customers
Ensures compliance with company financial and accounting policies and procedures and also ensures internal controls are effective in both design and operation, including the routine monitoring of controls
Ensures the monthly close deadlines are timely met, account reconciliation and supporting documentation is maintained for all activities, account analysis is performed, prepares various packages as requested (e.g., cost report, tax, etc.), and assists in various projects as requested
Assists with the identification and independent assessment of financial risk, establishment, and monitoring of mitigation plans, and with the communication of financial risk and opportunity to the regional CFO and hospital CEO
Assists with the monitoring of the financial performance and the maintenance of reasonable and appropriate financial plans and forecasts

Minimum Education
Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. CPA designation or an advanced degree would be a plus.
Minimum Work Experience
It would be preferred that the ideal candidate have at least 5 years of progressive financial health care or equivalent experience in the areas of general accounting; financial systems; financial statement preparation; review and analysis; multi-discipline management experience; ethics; and excellent communication skills.
