Summary:
The Certified Technician provides support to the pharmacist by reviewing, compounding and dispensing medications. All work is carried out under the supervision of a licensed Pharmacist.
Shift differential:
- Weekday Evening 10%
- Weekday Night 10%
- Sat/Sun Day 5%
- Sat/Sun Evening 15%
- Sat/Sun Night 15%
This position qualifies for our Pharmacy Technician Incentive Program, which includes $5000 in commitment incentives spread over a two-year period. Payment is made after six months, one year, and two years of employment. Learn more about the Pharmacy Technician Incentive Program here:
Responsibilities:
- IV Preparation Experience
- Ability to mix and compound IV medications from a Laminar Flow Hood or Biological Safety Cabinet is essential
- Comply with and perform best practices as outlined/described in USP &
- Perform pharmaceutics infusion compounding activities
- Perform sanitation, maintenance and tracking of infusion equipment and the IV room
- Cleaning and sterilizing equipment, instruments, and cleanroom according to procedures
- Pass annual proficiency and certification checks: gowning, aseptic technique, labeling, facilities sanitation, equipment cleaning
- Assists in the setup of the compounding room, equipment, and supplies for the preparation of compounded sterile solutions, using an aseptic technique.

Education Requirements:
None required as long as other position qualifications are met. Completion of an academic pharmacy technician training program preferred.
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
Registration with the NC Board of Pharmacy unless enrolled in a PharmD program.
CPhT from PTCB or ExCPT from NHA unless enrolled in a PharmD program.
Professional Experience Requirements:
Prior pharmacy technician experience is preferred.
