Shift: Night 3x12-Hour (19:00 - 07:00)
Job Summary: As a Registered Nurse in our Stepdown Unit, you will play a crucial role in the care and recovery of patients who require a higher level of monitoring and support than those on a general medical-surgical floor but are not in the intensive care unit. You will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality care, assess patients' conditions, administer medications, and educate patients and their families on their treatment plans. Your clinical expertise and compassionate approach will contribute to the overall well-being of our patients.
Key Responsibilities: Patient Care: Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in the Stepdown Unit, including monitoring vital signs, administering medications, and managing ventilators and other specialized equipment.
Assessment: Conduct thorough patient assessments, document findings, and develop individualized care plans based on patient needs.
Collaboration: Collaborate with physicians, nurse practitioners, and other healthcare professionals to ensure the best possible patient outcomes.
Education: Educate patients and their families on their conditions, treatment plans, and self-care techniques to promote recovery and prevent complications.
Advocacy: Advocate for patients' needs and preferences while maintaining their safety and well-being.
Monitoring: Continuously monitor patients' progress and respond promptly to any changes in their condition, adjusting care plans as necessary.
Documentation: Maintain accurate and complete patient records, including nursing assessments, interventions, and outcomes.
Medication Administration: Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, ensuring accuracy and patient safety.
Teamwork: Work collaboratively with the healthcare team, including nursing colleagues, respiratory therapists, and ancillary staff, to provide coordinated and efficient care.
Compliance: Adhere to hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory standards, ensuring a safe and compliant work environment.
Qualifications: - Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in state of practice
- BSN or ADN from an accredited nursing program
- BLS and ACLS certification
- Minimum of 5 years of nursing experience, with experience in a stepdown or similar unit preferred
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
