Job Summary
This position provides night shift coverage and response to calls coming through the 211 crisis hotline.
Job Responsibilities
- Obtains and ensures accurate completion of paperwork related to the call including but not limited to crisis assessment, 211 documentation, releases of information, demographics information, and DHMAS required data (Department of Drug & Alcohol Programs - DDaP) forms by 10 a.m. the day following the call.
- Provide telephone triage for behavioral health crisis calls during the on-call hours.
- Along with the on call Mental Health Counselor, responds to requests for behavioral health assessments, in community locations, typically within 45 minutes of the request for services to providing behavioral health interventions and de-escalation to individuals aged 18+ and families in crisis. Assessments should include mental status exam, diagnostic consistent with DSM 5, clinical formulation, disposition, and any other relevant clinical information.
- Coordinate with on-call mental health worker to share relevant information for any mobile calls and to co-respond to the call.
- Provide initial crisis intervention services to individuals in need, along with crisis case management and short-term crisis counseling as a follow-up from initial intervention, when appropriate.
- Provide documentation to clinical manager or oncoming clinician the day following the call.
- Perform other related duties as required
Qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling, or Related Field
- Three years’ experience providing direct services to psychiatric patients, substance use population.
- Previous experience in assessment and diagnosis and individual/group therapy and crisis intervention.
- Valid Driver’s License
- Active CT License in Social Work, Professional Counseling, or Marital & Family Therapy
- Obtain certification through DMHAS to complete emergency certificates within 3months of hire or first training opportunity offered by DMHAS
