Northrop Grumman Missions Systems is seeking experienced engineers in the following areas: Antennas, Receiver/Exciter, Electromagnetics, Computational Electromagnetics, RF/Microwave design, Digital beam-forming, Hardware/Subsystem Integration and Test, and Antenna Control Design.
Typical Roles and Responsibilities include:
Responsibilities may include development of antenna architectures, receiver / exciter architectures, requirements generation/flow down; subsystem analysis including hardware from RF to digits, performance modeling, support for performance testing, requirements verification, and more. Work will be performed under consultative direction toward predetermined long-range goals and objectives. Assignments are often self-initiated.
Basic Qualifications:
- Must have a Bachelors Degree in Engineering or related discipline with 14 years of experience in the areas described in the job description or 12 years of experience with a Masters Degree and/or 9 years of experience with a Ph. D. An additional 4 years of experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
- US Citizenship is required
- Active Secret Clearance.
- Ability to develop highly novel solutions to a broad variety of RF/Microwave design and test related problems of complex difficulty which require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity
- Established subject matter expertise in numerous areas of RF/Microwave discipline including but not limited to: Antenna, RF components & assemblies, requirements development, EM and related modeling & simulation, RF test verification, production test support, and design for producibility
- Exhibit expert proficiency with industry standard RF/Microwave modeling, simulation and printed circuit board design tools (i.e. ANSYS HFSS/Maxwell, CST Microwave, Eagleware/Genesys, Keysight ADS, Xpedition, Altium, FEKO, TICRA)
- Staff Engineers should have a demonstrated ability in technical and team leadership overseeing engineers with experience at least at the Sr. Principal level.
- Proven knowledge of electrical engineering design software and equipment
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to design, implement, install and maintain electrical systems

- Active electronically scanned arrays (AESAs)
- Receiver/Exciters
- Highly integrated subsystems including antenna and receive/exciter hardware
- Reflectors, Reflect Arrays, Digital Beam Forming
- Antenna/RF Performance Analysis
- Computational Electromagnetics, Statistics
- Antenna or Subsystem Control Design
- Antenna Measurements and Data Reduction
- Antenna range integration, test, and system integration
- Subsystem requirements (hardware and software) derivation, flow-down, and configuration
- Familiarity working with embedded real time software and digital systems
- Familiarity with firmware development tool suites including Quartus and Vivado
Preferred Qualifications:
- TS/SCI
- Comfortable creating test support applications and tools using MATLAB, python, etc
- Experience with agile software development methodologies including Scrum and Kanban
- Experience with Atlassian Tool Suite, Git
Role is contingent on candidate's ability to obtain and maintain an Interim Secret Clearance and Program Award.
Salary Range: $157,000 - $236,300
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
