Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with teachers and/or facilitators to deliver approved substance use prevention curriculum to schools and other agencies. This delivery may involve group, individual classroom, assembly facilitation, observations, monitoring, and direct implementation including preparation and delivery of materials.
- Participate in scheduled staff meetings and report progress as well as areas of concern.
- Participate in Community Coalition meetings and task force committees as appropriate.
- Recruit and secure school and community implementation locations.
- Secure training sites for approved programs.
- Market and promote programs to all schools as requested by supervisor.
- Collaborates with supervisor and department staff and communicates issues and critical information.
- Provide parent education on alcohol and other drugs when requested.
- Provide in-services on alcohol and other drugs to faculty or agency staff when requested.
- Provide appropriate community resources (i.e., substance use information, etc.) to requesting schools and partners.
- Identifies, communicates, and implements improvements in work situations, as needed.
- Meet or exceed all grant goals.
- Complete monitoring reports (i.e., DCF) as indicated by grant requirements.
- Complete all documentation and PBPS/CPG entries daily and submit to supervisor weekly.
- Demonstrate success through documentation of satisfaction surveys, training evaluations and observations.
- Maintains knowledge of prevention disciplines, trends, and best practices.
- Performs any additional duties requested by executive staff.
Education/Experience Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree or higher in human services, education or related field required.
- Completion of Level 1 and 2 background screenings.
- Completion of relevant training, upon hire and when deemed appropriate.
- A minimum of 1 year working with adolescents, preferably in a school or public health setting, preferred.
- Must be able to work early morning, evening and weekend hours as required.
- Certified Prevention Specialist (CPS) or Certified Prevention Professional (CPP) preferred.
- Applicants who are currently in recovery from past substance use issues must be successfully rehabilitated and no longer engaging in use of illegal substances in order to be eligible for this position. Hanley Foundation generally requires applicants in recovery to have had at least two years of uninterrupted sobriety to meet this eligibility standard. Exceptions to this two-year sobriety requirement may be granted on a case-by-case basis if extenuating circumstances exist to warrant such an exception. Any questions should be addressed to the COO.
Physical Requirements:
- Regularly required to sit, stand, use hands to handle or feel.
- Frequently required to reach with hands and arms.
- Occasionally required walk and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Must be able to travel and deliver public presentations that can be both lengthy and in multiple sessions.
- Must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
