Position/Title: Intern
Department: Equity, Diversity, Inclusion & Access (EDIA)
Reports to: Vice-President, EDIA
Status: Internship, Hourly, Non-Exempt
JOB SUMMARY
Reporting to the VP of Equity, Diversity, Inclusion & Access (EDIA), the intern will be fully immersed in the daily operations of the EDIA department, undertaking various tasks as required. Responsibilities include conducting research, organizing professional development initiatives, crafting, and delivering presentations, designing promotional materials such as flyers and PowerPoint presentations, and representing EDIA as an ambassador. This internship opportunity is slated to commence in June 2024, offering full-time hours (40 hours per week) during the summer and transitioning to a part-time role during the fall academic semester.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with researching, planning, and implementing of strategic initiatives related to EDIA.
- Support document management, including research to update EDIA resources guides e.g. Diverse Suppliers guide, Diverse Corporate Social Responsibility guide and Multicultural Media guide.
- Support the development and implementation of new resources and professional development for Meet Minneapolis staff and business partners.
- Contribute innovative ideas and share best practices relevant to EDIA.
- Develop, support EDIA, and execute EDIA professional development.
- Support the daily management of Meet Minneapolis Legacy Project teams.
- Attend external hospitality and tourism industry events.
- Draft communications to update internal and external stakeholders related to EDIA.
- Design promotional materials such as flyers and PowerPoint presentations.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- Enrolled student currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in relevant field of study.
- Minimum of 3.0 GPA.
- Preferred one year experience working on EDIA models, theories, research or professional development.
- Demonstrate ability to create and design flyers and other promotional materials.
- Demonstrate maturity, dependability, integrity, and initiative to learn about EDIA and the tourism and hospitality industries.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Excellent research, analytical, and communication skills.
- Attention to detail and willingness to learn.
- Demonstrated interest in EDIA development, history, models and theories or human resources.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and concisely.
- Ability to work on a team and independently on projects and tasks.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
- Demonstrated leadership, versatility and integrity.
- Passionate adherence to organization goals of Service, Collaboration, Inclusion, Passion and Integrity.
SALARY
- Paid internship. $16.00 per hour
TIMING
- Fulltime from June-August 2024 and continuing during the school year (September-May).
- Hours are flexible based on schedule, approximately 40 hours per week during the summer and 24 hours per week during the school year.
- A hybrid schedule with some in-office and remote work will be available.
