Senior Estimator
Scope
Southwest Concrete Paving is looking for motivated, career oriented, self-starting team members to be a lead estimator for construction projects. This position is responsible for plan and specification review, material quantity takeoffs, developing paving plans, solicitation and assessment of quotes, project write-ups, technical write-ups, liaison with potential prime and subcontractors, job walks, etc. This position will be primarily an office position where the qualified applicant will be required to travel to remote project sites for pre-construction walks and site visits on an as needed basis. The individual must be able to effectively communicate, multi-task, and work in a fast-paced environment. Some night and weekend work may be required.
The ideal candidate will have experience in Construction Estimating, Construction Management, Business Administration, or related field preferred, or equivalent combinations of technical training and related experience. 5+ years of construction estimating support, engineering, field support, or similar experience.

Primary Duties
- Read and review project plans and specifications. Disseminate large quantities of information and relate findings to team members
- Perform takeoffs on project plans to determine materials quantities required for projects
- Read and interpret project specifications to understand scope of work and constraints placed on successful bidders.
- Solicit quotes from a myriad of potential suppliers and subcontractors for upcoming work. Must be able to accurately disseminate anticipated scope of work, timelines and expectations
- Represent company during job walks and site visits to ascertain local knowledge relating to upcoming jobs being bid.
- Develop and maintain databases of contacts by region for various materials, suppliers, and consultants
- Compile and narrate job write-ups from past projects
- Draft and edit technical approach and scheduling narratives for project proposals.
- Compile baseline project schedules and durations of work
- Assemble bid packages and proposals for submission.
- Act as liaison between prime contractors and subcontractors involved in current and future bids.
- Network with industry to develop relationships with contractors and suppliers.
- Search government and local databases for potential work up for bid that fits SWCP scope.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook is required
- Proficiency with Blue Beam and On-Screen Take-off
- Proficiency with Heavy Job and HCSS
- Prior construction and estimating experience
- Must have valid drivers license
- Must be willing to travel occasionally for short duration
- Must be able to obtain military base access
