Position Description:
Develops, implements, and maintains tooling methods, and processes in the manufacture or fabrication of tools. Estimates tooling cost and makes recommendations for tooling and process requirements of new or existing product lines.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Create tool designs utilizing NX (Unigraphics) CAD system. This requires being familiar with tool design and drafting standards of various customers and military.
- Knowledge of layering, file naming conventions and geometric tolerance for major OEMs.
- Work with internal Manufacturing Engineers to create tool designs in support of development hardware for various customers.
- Designs include dies, gages, lift & transport fixtures, small machines, assembly/disassembly, fixtures for milling, drilling, marking, surface treatment, grinding and turning.
- Communicate with Manufacturing Engineers and Shop Personnel to ensure customer requirements are met.
- Must be familiar with ergonomic and with applicable OSHA safety standards
- Creates blueprints/set-up sheets for shop use with proper dimensioning and tolerancing
- Performs other related duties or responsibilities as requested or required, whether specifically mentioned in this job description.
Qualifications:
- BS or associate degree (Mechanical/ Aerospace) from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with a minimum of 5+ years of 3D modeling experience)
- Minimum 2 years of 3D modeling experience on Aero-engines/Gas turbines components
- 1+ Years of experience in Siemens NX / Teamcenter environment
- Ability to easily interpret technical drawings with understanding of GD&T.
- Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, work under time constraints, maintain composure and handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Ability to interact with employees/managers at all levels with strong oral and written communication skills
- Project Management experience is desired, but not required
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment
- Like to work in a fast paced, creative environment
- Must be a “US Person” as defined by US Government and able to work without restriction with ITAR related data.
- Extensive background designing modifying of jigs and fixtures in a production manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of different metal types – Aluminum, Stainless, Titanium, High Nickel Alloys, etc.
- Proven ability and fluency in Print Reading and GD&T, Statistical Process Control, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Siemens NX, and Gage/fixture design
- General computer experience
- Microsoft Office products – Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.
- Windows 10 experience
- Ability to navigate an understand file structure and naming convention in Windows Explorer environment
- Possible travel as required for training and multi-site support
