Job Summary and QualificationsThis position supports the mission of Presbyterian/St Luke’s Medical Center of providing innovative and comprehensive care to patients and their families. All employees are expected to put patients first, with quality, respect, safety and teamwork with every interaction, every time, with every patient, family, staff member, physician and the public.
The Operating Room Nurse Manager provides oversight and direction for the clinical practice of nursing and the delivery of patient care within the Main Operating Room. Management of human, fiscal, and other resources, development of personnel, compliance with regulatory and professional standards, strategic planning, and fostering of collaborative relationships (nursing, anesthesia, surgical specialties, and the OR team) to ensure quality practice and outcomes, coordination of effective care and efficient unit operations through obtaining consensus and promoting participative behaviors
•Oversees all aspects of the Main Operating Room
•Effectively performs personnel tasks including hiring, counseling, promoting and disciplining staff as appropriate.
•Manage the performance of all OR personnel, including role expectations and performance reviews.
•Makes continuous efforts to ensure cost-effective, efficient operations.
•Partners with surgeons to foster effective communication and surgeon satisfaction, including effective communication with surgeon office staff.
•Holds all clinic team members accountable to a high standard of professional behavior.
•Analysis of OR metrics to promote department efficiency; including productivity.
•Develop collaborative relationship with facility partners (Infection Prevention, Quality, Risk Management, Instrument Processing, Supply Chain, etc.)
•Ensure compliance with regulatory agencies, including The Joint Commission
•Support/oversee department staffing and surgical volume expectations
What qualifications you will need:
- Current licensure in the state of Colorado as a Registered Nurse, or current active multistate Registered Nurse license
- Current BLS certification
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with a Bachelors of Science in Nursing strongly preferred
- At least one year previous experience in charge/supervisory or management position. At least two years clinical experience in specialty.
- Comprehensive knowledge of perioperative services. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Plans, leads and directs the delivery of patient services by competent, trained staff. Works independently to effectively problem solve issues with staff and develop a workable solution. Communicates effectively both orally and in writing. Strong physician relations. Hiring, guidance, mentoring, evaluations and counseling of personnel. Tactful, assertive, strong attention to detail, and highly organized.
