The position will assist in ensuring compliance with all Federal, State, Local, and Corporate Health and Safety requirements while building a culture of H&S excellence. The Health and Safety Manager must be skilled in interpreting and complying with regulations that apply across business operations, exhibit excellent leadership skills, and be able to work across functional boundaries to achieve a zero-harm culture.
What Will You Do?
In order to grow and build a successful career with The Toro Company, you will be responsible for:
Work directly with Ditch Witch Health and Safety to develop and implement the TTC Global EHS Governance Manual across Ditch Witch employing proactive safety processes
Support effective behavioral based safety programs across Ditch Witch beginning with, but not limited to, the SafeStart and DuPont STOP programs
Develop effective relationships with all levels of the organization
Administer mandated programs including, but not limited to hearing conservation, safety eye wear program, machine guarding, bloodborne pathogens, respiratory protection, hazard communications, and personal protective equipment
Assure reporting, including online reporting of health and safety requirements, is timely and accurate
Engage leadership across the organization to drive safety and health excellence across Ditch Witch with the goal of a zero-harm culture
Lead the continuation of Job Safety Analysis throughout our facilities to support continuous improvement through thoughtful comprehensive hazard identification and risk mitigation
Provide pertinent data for the daily, weekly, and monthly safety scorecards consistent with Toro requirements supporting continuous improvement of EHS systems including corrective action completion, compliance inspections and hazard identification
Train employees on company safety policies and procedures assuring all training is current and records are maintained including new employee orientation
Assist in new hire orientation including hazard identification training and new hire refresher training
Provide injury management support including checking on injured employees, coordination with Supervisors and coordination of onsite medical management
Support site management during incident investigations as required and implement effective countermeasures as appropriate
Partner with site Support Services Manager to assist in workers’ compensation cost containment
Review facility procedures and amend as required to keep company compliant with changing regulations on an annual basis
Collaborate with engineering, maintenance and operations functions on proper machine guarding implementation and usage
Provide technical guidance for H&S for Subsite, OK
Have relevant environmental engineering experience in water, wastewater, waste disposal, hazardous storage, and overall environmental best practices
Perform other duties as assigned
Manage departmental team members to:
Engage employees and provide opportunities for involvement on the safety team
Assure site safety team is staffed with a standard agenda & expectations and supported by local management including but not limited to scheduled audits, meetings, publishing/posting of minutes, and oversight of site health and safety metrics
Assure each location maintains a corrective action log to address concerns from employees, audits, and inspections
Provide ergonomic engineering assessment of manufacturing processes and equipment
Maintain facility safety data sheet (SDS) files to assure they are complete
Complete powered industrial equipment training and maintenance of related records

Office environment with frequent work taking place on the factory floor, warehouse, and outside facility
Rapidly changing workloads and priorities with frequent deadlines

What Do You Need?
To be considered for this role, an individual should meet the following minimal requirements:
Bachelor’s degree (prefer EHS sciences, Engineering, or Engineering Technology)
7+ years leading and building comprehensive safety programs with evidence of continuous improvement in a similar sized campus
Strong manufacturing business acumen with familiarity in manufacturing and material handling preferred
Excellent communication skills, both formal and informal, at all levels of the organization
Strong analytical, negotiating, presentation and facilitation skills
Ability to lead and direct teams and/or committees
Ability to conceive, develop, and execute EHS related projects within a manufacturing environment
Demonstrated knowledge of delivering direct health and safety training
Ability to develop, implement, and coordinate comprehensive health and safety incident prevention programs
Skilled in the standards, concepts, practices, and procedures within the health, safety and environmental fields
Experience with IS 45001 and ISO 14001 is preferred
Experience in Security is preferred
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
JOB DIMENSIONS:
Position located in Perry, OK
Position reports to the Ditch Witch Health and Safety Director, also located in Perry, Oklahoma
In conjunction with the Director of Health and Safety and the Health and Safety Representative, responsible for the health and safety of approximately 1,600 employees
The position manages two direct reports
Travel requirements approximated at < 5%
Position is on first shift but will occasionally be required to work alternate shifts as needed for training, investigation, and culture development
