Position Summary:
A Radiology Extern is responsible and accountable for cleaning and setting up equipment and assisting technologists and other healthcare workers in order to provide quality patient care and services. Organize work assignments, conduct-imaging room set up, patient verification, explain procedures to patients; help in patient transfers from and to beds, and wheelchairs. Maintain the supplies room, set up exam rooms, and accurately position patients on applicable equipment for exams. Ensure patient comfort; engage patients and coworkers in ethical conduct, and adherence to regulatory requirements.
POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES AND PERFORMANCE CRITERIA
Ensures safe transportation of patients according to hospital policy as requested Under the direction of the Supervisor/Dispatcher, transports patients to MRI or CT modalities in a timely manner and transports patients back to the nursing units, transports equipment/supplies as requested.
Utilizes Ticket to ride and follows protocol as evidenced through competency.
Maintains department equipment and organization of supply room Keeps wheelchairs available for use
Performs cleaning of wheelchairs after each patient use and as needed
Completes weekly and as needed check on equipment and ensures good working order. Takes equipment out of service and notifies appropriate area for repair
Prepares and submits work orders as needed
Stocks and puts away new deliveries of supplies
Maintains weekly unit order sheet based off PAR levels
Returns unused equipment to their specific areas
Maintains adequate supply of Oxygen cylinders throughout department
Ensures cylinders are in appropriate racks (full/Partial vs Empty)
Removes empty cylinders from facility and ensures proper placement in storage area.
Utilizes appropriate interpersonal skills as outlined in the Standards on Conduct and in accordance with customer service initiatives.
HIPPA Responsible for complying with all policy and procedures that pertain to HIPPA including the minimum necessary requirements for this job portion
Performs and fulfills all HICS (hospital incident command system) responsibilities, assignments, tasks and roles as directed and needed by facility in times of emergency and/or disaster. Responsible for knowing the Hospital’s emergency codes, including the purpose and appropriate action for each and adheres to the Hospital polices and procedure for each emergency code. Accepts/participates on assigned Team for Hurricane response
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Reports for scheduled shift on time and prepared to assume responsibilities Reports to work in proper uniform or attire
Leaves for meal break on time and returns on time
Varies work schedule to meet the needs of the department
Ensures all overtime had been approved by the department head prior to working
Schedules all time off with supervisors’ approvals
Strictly adheres to hospital attendance/tardiness policies 100% of the time
Wear I.D. badge in visible location at all times on hospital property
Attends and participates in meetings and is responsible for information communicated at meetings
Adheres to Corporate, Regional, Hospital and departmental policy and procedure 100% of the time. Reads and comprehends the company’s standards of Conduct. During the past evaluation period, has demonstrated compliance with the company’s Ethics program.
Has participated in one hour Standards of Conduct training within the last 12 months
Understands that compliance with Corporate Integrity Program is condition of employment and violation of any principals or practices if the program will result in disciplinary action up to and including termination
Assists all patients, family members, physicians, visitors and employees in a professional and courteous manner.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION:
Minimum: High school graduate or equivalent, and
Current enrollment or recent completion in a Radiology Program
EXPERIENCE:
Previous healthcare experience preferred
REQUIRED CERTIFICATION/LICENUSRE/REGISTRATION:
American Heart Association BLS
Personal Protective Equipment:
Universal precautions must be utilized as appropriate
