Data Collection: Unit Information: Location: Building: Heart Hospital of Austin Floor: 2nd and 3rd floor Order Detail: Facility Department Number: 64268 Discipline: Cardiology surgical and medical PCU level of care Quantity: 2 Target Start Date: 3/3 or within the first 2 weeks of March Shift: p18 () Call Requirements: placed on call by HS must be available till 4AM or required to float within the system Weekends: 4 weekend shift a month required (Friday and Saturday are weekend shift nights) General Information Tell us about the unit(s): Number of Beds 52 PCU, 6 IMC, 14 CVICU (PCU and IMC are a shared unit but travelers will not float to IMC unless skills are verified by our educator) Number of Staff Roughly 80 RNs and 40 PCTs Type of staff: o Day Shift (example 1 charge, 3 RN, 2 CNA, and 1-3 sitters) o Night Shift (2 Free Charges, resource RN, 13 RNs, 5 PCTs and sitters as needed). All our charges are free charges with no patient assignment. As well as our House Supervisor is on the 3rd floor outside of POD J. Patient Ratios 1:5 and PCTs take a range of 7-15 patients with a free PCT lead. Type of equipment Welch Allyn vital sign machines, GE EKG machines, pyxis machines, PC computers 3 per pod, stat strip (nova) glucometers, Philips remote tele boxes and in room monitors, Imobile iphones. (Y/N) Yes Typical hiring profile Skill Set Most recruited for: (Travel RNs, local CNAs and sitters) Must have: candidates without these skills will not be considered for the role. Cardiology experience with (open hearts, heart failure, post Cath lab patients, valve patients) 2+ years of experience Preferred or nice to have: candidates with these skills will be considered first. LVAD experience Meditech proficiency List typical procedures performed on unit(s): Only in unit procedures are cardioversions and Radiologist guided thoracentesis. The unit takes watchman s, Cath lab, EP (pacemakers, ablations), open heart, advanced HF failure patients, LVAD placement and readmissions. We also have a full-service ER attached to our building we will not admit neuro patients, anyone under 18 or mother/baby needs. We do see GI patients occasionally and our GI team here will perform pill cams or colonoscopy s. Best personality Fit: Team oriented and willing to help out PCTs and RNs Willing to follow unit policy and procedures. We have a huge focus on falls and skin. The CNCs round 1x a shift and verify all fall precautions are in place. If your patient is a skin risk then we can order air beds to help with skin breakdown. The CNCs on shift are very willing to educate and help. Dress Code: Include requirements, but most of all not acceptable attire.
