The Assistant Show Manager is accountable and responsible for tactical project management of show scopes for Walt Disney Imagineering projects large and small, sometimes working with another Show Manager or fully responsible on their own depending on the project. The Assistant Show Manager leads all subject areas within the show team on a project from blue sky through close out and beyond. Assistant Show Managers regularly partner with team members from all parts of Walt Disney Imagineering, Facility Operations and Services, Park Operations and Contracts to deliver a very complex and diverse scope of work on time and on budget with long term reliability. Assistant Show Managers are on the frontline of a project to lead the Show Team to ideate, design, engineer, produce, install and deliver outstanding shows and attractions while ensuring project budgets and schedules are met!
This is a full-time position.
What You Will Do- Lead the work of Show Design and Production teams for all show fields involved in a project.
- Be accountable for show scope on a full (“right size”) project for their level of experience.
- Be responsible for commercial management of a product line or multiple product lines/elements within a project
- Develop strategic plans for production of show scope considering vendors, resource availability, budget, schedule, creative intent and agreed upon design criteria.
- Drive for results along with show scope design team and their leadership identifying needed changes in resource needs thru all phases of the project lifecycle.
- Develop scope and bidding documents for all show scopes.
- Evaluate and selects vendors as appropriate for budget, schedule and technical capabilities.
- Manage contracts for outside vendors as the Responsible Individual (RI) and reports on progress, budget and status to project team.
- Facilitate relationships with the Show team, all project partners, vendor leaders and field leads, (Primary focus on show adjacent scope i.e. Operations, FOS, Facility teams etc.)
- Monitor all phases of design, development/production and installation of show scope identifying potential changes to creative intent, missed/deleted scope or other changes to scope relative to detailed bid packages or other documentation, validate identified changes and associated values and process change order approvals.
- Communicate, both verbally in presentation and conversation, and written correspondence to WDI leadership, project teams, vendors, consultants, and other partners
- Direct and indirect leadership of Show team members as needed
- Partner directly with Producers, Project Managers, Production Designers and Technical Directors on projects
Required Qualifications & Skills- Minimum 5 years related experience – leadership in film/theater production, engineering, construction, project controls or other Disney/Themed Entertainment projects
- Experience managing workflow and delivery of complex scopes of work
- Experience and ability to work with multidisciplinary Artistic and Technical subject matter experts toward a singular goal of meeting Creative Intent
- Ability to think strategically and tactically about complex issues and problem-solve to resolution
- Demonstrated leadership qualities, interpersonal skills and teamwork/partnering ability by taking care of those in your charge rather than being in charge.
- Ability to balance between project delivery goals while being empathetic to the project team to create a harmonious environment.
- Ability to travel domestically and/or internationally
- Ability to relocate short term domestically and/or internationally for project work
EducationBachelor’s degree in a field such as Design, Engineering, Themed Entertainment, Business or equivalent work experience

The hiring range for this position in Glendale, California is $ 84,500 to $113,300 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
