We are seeking a
RegisteredNurse to join the team on the Pediatric Intensive Care unit.
- Nurses on this 21-bed unit care for children from newborn to adult.
- PICU nurses provide comprehensive care for patients admitted with a wide variety of both medical and surgical problems. Problems include: acute head injuries, critical neurological disorders, pulmonary diseases, cardiac anomalies , organ transplantation , multi system organ failure, and ECMO.
Minimum Requirements: - Facility R equirement:
- Traveler must have permanent address outside 50 mile radius of Madison .
- Experience :
- Minimum one year pediatric ICU experience required.
- Traveler must have completed two years of acute care experience within the last three years.
- Traveler must have experience in an Academic Level 1 - Trauma center or similar size hospital.
- Traveler must have successfully completed 13 week travel assignment.
- Licensure and Certification:
- Traveler must have Wisconsin Registered Nurse license or compact license from theirpermanent address state.
- BLS must be certified through American Heart Association ONLY
- PALS - must be certified through American Heart Association
- Education:
- Baccalaureate degree in nursing preferred.

- Needs 2 completed references from recent work environment/assignments (supervisor or manager only for work performed in the last two years).
- Telemetrymetry
- Traveler must have Basic Arrhythmia experience. Travelerwill be required to pass Telemetry test prior to being cleared tostart (not for clinic positions). Recruitment will send instructions to traveler 2-3 weeks prior to startdate.
- Floating
- Travelers are the first to float to floors working with children up to 1 year of age and/or based on the traveler's competency skills/experience. The Traveler may have shifts scheduled in multiple units, depending on the current staffing needs and/or different locations within the organization. During the travelers assignment, if the primary unit no longer has a need, shifts will be re-assigned to another unit in order to complete contract.

As a reminder, you are required to pass the exam prior to starting your assignment here. Please make sure to review anything you are not comfortable with prior to coming to UW Health.
All agency travelers must demonstrate competency in interpretation of cardiac rhythms before your orientation begins. Previous completion of PALS, ACLS, etc. is not acceptable as a demonstration of this competency. Instead, you will be expected to satisfactorily complete a 20 question test which consists of multiple choice questions and write-in rhythm identification. You must pass with an overall score of 80% and correctly identify 100% of the 4 life-threatening rhythms for your patient population (adult or peds). If there are any questions, please refer to earlier communication to your agency.
