The Safety Coordinator monitors workplace activities to promote and ensure employee compliance with applicable company and OSHA safety regulations in the Midwest, Eastern, and Central States regions. This position will create a safety culture for all employees by training managers and employees, along with conducting safety meetings and creating safety committees.
Duties/Responsibilities include the following:
- Coordinates the safety and security programs to promote and ensure a safe working environment.
- Submits recommendations for improvements and additions to the safety management program including emergency preparedness, accident prevention, general safety, and risk management.
- Stops operations and activities that could harm staff or equipment.
- Shares environmental safety information with appropriate levels in the organization.
- Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local safety laws, regulations, codes, and rules.
- Identifies opportunities to minimize workplace injuries, accidents, and health problems.
- Conducts employee training on applicable safety standards.
- Manage worker's compensation and accident claims via investigations for Eastern, Midwest, and Central states regions
- Work with Eastern, Midwest, and Central States managers and employees to return employees to light duty work/return to duty
- Work with worker's compensation TPA agents
- Guide employees, as allowed, through the light duty process or time loss process
- Ensure the employee has everything needed to fully recover as injury allows
- Reviews safety training and recommends revisions, improvements, and updates.
- Travel to different sites to conduct safety inspections and audits to assess employee compliance with safety regulations every 2 years and as needed basis Inspects safety equipment; recommends replacements.
- Evaluates the effectiveness of safety and security programs.
- Review accidents and incidents reported by employees and visitors to the facility.
- Collaborates with management to develop, prepare, and implement safety and security policies and procedures.
- Encourage Safety Culture with employees and managers
- Manage OSHA files, and violations, and help locations with OSHA rules and interpretations for the Midwest, Eastern, and Central States Regions
- Complete OSHA logs for the region and send them to Corporate for filing for the Midwest, Eastern, and Central States Regions
- Create and maintain a standard safety manual for MacArthur
- Manage Truck Fleet (tractors, boom trucks, curtain sides, straight trucks, vans, and 1-ton trucks) Including preparing purchase documents and assisting with selling used fleet
- Manage Truck Fleet licensing and Titles
- Attend one Worker's Compensation TPA workshop per year
Qualifications:
- At least five years of safety and/or security experience is required
- Advanced training or certification in safety and security (preferred)
- OSHA 10 Certification preferred, but can be provided
- Ability to travel to branches within the region to conduct safety inspections
- Must be able to travel via plane or car to designated branch locations within the United States
