Part Time CDL Driver
Job Type: Part-Time
Shift: Day Shift, home nightly
Compensation: $27.00 - $30.00/hour

Responsibilities:
- Operate an 18-wheel truck and trailer to safely and efficiently transport a variety of products.
- Responsible for the proper loading and securing of each commodity to prevent movement and allow for safe transportation of materials.
- Responsible for ongoing and effective communication with Marth's personnel, customers, and others regarding permits, routes, fuel stops, giving and receiving information and instructions.
- Responsible for daily completion of all required paperwork such as freight bills, load sheets, log books, records of fuel purchases, mileage records, and any other records required for compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Ensure that all shipping documentation (e.g., manifest, security seal sheet, bills of lading, shipping orders, or freight bills, etc.) required to move with shipments is available for inspection and that appropriate paperwork accompanies shipment when delivered.
- Responsible for performing pre-trip, inter-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and reports, adjustments, preventative maintenance, tire chain-ups, brake adjustments, and minor on-road repairs as needed.
- Responsible for the cleanliness of the vehicle and equipment being used (interior and exterior).
- Hook and unhook trailers from the tractor itself or from converter dollies, including pushing and/or pulling dollies into place and cranking lever to raise and lower landing gear on semi-trailers and/or the front support on converter dollies.
- Load and unload trailers, either individually or with assistance of dockworkers, with or without mechanical freight-handling equipment.
- Perform frequent lifting, pulling, pushing, and carrying of freight.
- Check shipping papers to determine the nature of load and to make sure there are no hazardous materials.
- Responsible for driving in accordance with federal regulations, normally in periods of up to 11 hours of driving followed by an off-duty period of at least ten consecutive hours.
- Apply knowledge of commercial driving and skills in maneuvering vehicle at varying speeds in difficult situations, such as heavy traffic, inclement weather, or in tight loading dock areas.
- Responsible for performing all duties in accordance with company policies and procedures, and complying with all federal, state, and local regulations for the safe operation of a commercial motor vehicle.
- Responsible for reporting all accidents involving driver or company equipment highway safety hazards noted en route, and delays due to breakdowns, weather or traffic conditions or other emergencies, or in the event of irregularities relating to pickup or delivery of cargo.
- Attend and participate in all required staff and safety meetings.
- Other duties as assigned.

Job Description

- Responsible for daily completion of all required paperwork such as freight bills, load sheets, log books, records of fuel purchases, mileage records, and any other records required for compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualification/Education
- Must be at least 21 years old.
- Must possess a valid Commercial Driver's License with appropriate endorsements.
- Must have a minimum of 1 year previous tractor-trailer driving experience.
- Must have the ability to read, write, and speak English at a level that would allow the communication and comprehension of job-related information, instructions, regulations, signs, maps, MSDS guidelines, required paperwork, memos, etc.
- Must have knowledge of DOT regulations and Federal Motor Carrier Safety regulations governing safe driving, hours of service, inspection and maintenance.
- Must meet or exceed the medical standards of the U.S. Dept. of Transportation and have a valid DOT Medical Card.
- Must be able to frequently reach for freight at waist level and occasionally reach for freight above shoulder height or below waist level.
- Must be able to occasionally reach above shoulder level, at waist level, and below waist level for maneuvering and directing the controls to operate the truck.
- Must be able to load and unload full trailers of freight. Loading and unloading is dependent upon the customer request.
