This is what we'd like you to do:
The primary function of the business development officer is outside sales and fulfillment. They are to cultivate relationships with businesses to bring the employees of the business to the credit union and to deepen existing member relationships. Enhances and maintains the Credit Union's professional image. Recruits new member companies and maximize Field-of-Membership (FOM) participation with the Credit Union. Continually develops relationships with members, member companies and communities. Ensures accurate, prompt service is provided to both internal and external members while building and strengthening relationships. Consistently exceed internal and external member expectations. Ensures that professional business relations exist with member companies and that their needs are met. The position will be focused on cultivating new SEG opportunities by expanding the field of membership within NCUA guidelines, working with all current groups within the field of membership, become an expert on NCUA rules concerning fields of membership and charter options without diluting our core mission.
These are what your duties and responsibilities will be:
- Assumes responsibility for executing effective business and membership development programs.
- Responsible for membership growth within assigned area. Creates and maintains positive relationships with members, businesses, organizations, governments, professionals, and the general public.
- Establish and maintain effective communication and coordination with Credit Union personnel and management.
- Gathers information on prospective member companies. Targets companies to solicit.
- Cultivates relationships with key personnel at existing Select Employer Groups (SEGs) to maintain KFCU’s position as a benefit to the company employees through: In-person contacts, On-site presentation to groups, Special customized promotions, and Participating in orientation sessions and benefits days.
- Recommends schedules and coordination of on-site SEG visits, open houses, and other activities designed to boost membership levels at SEGs.
- Analyzes individual SEG needs, develops sales strategies and programs to meet those needs and tracks and reports results.
- Identifies SEGs to receive targeted mailings and assists in development of marketing pieces and distribution.
- Manages KFCU image (people, booth, exhibit, and signage) at SEGs.
- Represents KFCU at various events including SEG functions and performs public relations at civic and community events when necessary.
- Assists in developing annual Business Development plan.
- Must be able to execute and deliver KFCU presentations by various subject matter “experts” to stir up interest in credit union products and services to large groups of people.
- Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective communication and coordination with Credit Union personnel and management.
- Assists and supports Credit Union personnel and management as required.
- Keeps management informed of area activities and of any significant problems.
- Completes and submits required reports, records, and related documents.
- Attends and participates in meetings and committees as required.
- Assumes responsibility for ensuring that professional business relationships are established and maintained with outside business contacts and external business professionals.
- Ensures that the Credit Union’s professional reputation is maintained both internally and externally.
- Ensures appropriate levels of security and confidentiality are maintained.
- Acts as a principal representative of the Credit Union in contacts with business and trade associations and external business professionals.
- Promotes the Credit Union’s interests.
- Assumes responsibility for related duties as required or assigned.
- Stays informed of changing industry procedures, policies, and trends.
- Ensures that work area is clean, secure, and well maintained.
- Performs the duties for marketing, business development and public relations as required.
Required Knowledge:
- Knowledge of employee benefits programs and compliance requirements.
- Understanding of Human Resource Department reporting and recordkeeping requirements and procedures.
- Demonstrated experience with year-end payroll reporting, year-end tax reporting, , year-end regulatory requirements related to benefits administration.
Can you to bring to the table:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Finance or related field preferred..
- Minimum of three-five years’ experience in sales, marketing, communications, or related fields preferred.
- Knowledge of employee benefit programs and compliance requirements.
- Solid knowledge of Credit Union industry principles and practices preferred.
- Knowledge of Credit Union policies and procedures preferred.
- Knowledge of market research principles preferred
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Well organized, self-motivated, able to prioritize workload, meet deadlines and follow-through skills.
- Self-starter.
- Strong analytical skills.
