The Elevator Supervisor's primary focus is to manage and coordinate all activities and staff for the day-to-day elevator operations, grain and feed origination for the plant. This individual will support grain & feed origination, identifying and developing new sources of grain supply through market research and networking.Build and maintain relationships with farmers, brokers, and other suppliers.Support environmental, health and safety initiatives.
We are seeking someone that will implement practices that maximize efforts to improve the overall effectiveness and financial performance of the elevator function. The mill operations are 24/7.
ELEVATOR SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Elevator operations include grain quality, employee and asset safety, operation efficiencies, plant security, continuous improvement, and drive initiatives and innovation that generate new opportunities within the department.
- Grain orientation responsibilities include trading originations, market analysis, farmer, broker, supplier, customer relations and risk management.
- Be a leader for our Production Team and support cross functionally throughout the company.
- Mandate adherence to all safety guidelines and work to provide a safe work environment for all employees.
- Champion continuous improvement across all operational disciplines.
- Manage daily and long-term elevator activities to meet or exceed budgeted quality, and operating cost targets by managing team, equipment efficiency, and productivity.
- Manage employees operating all machinery and systems for all shifts, ensuring sound practice in all activities.
- Manage the physical facilities, bins, and all associated maintenance in accordance with best practices, statutory regulations, and all company policies and procedures.
- Coordinate all elevator operations over all shifts.
- Coordinate efforts for plant environmental, health and safety compliance.
- Create an empowered culture to ensure that the department and its people understand the goals and objectives of the business and that they have the resources and leadership support to accomplish them. Provide an environment which ensures and provides for open and healthy communications.
- Team with Engineering and Technical Milling groups to develop improved processes and/or materials.
ELEVATOR SUPERVISOR QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's Degree and 2+ years relevant job experience (or equivalent experience).
- Experience of elevator department supervision and plant operations a plus.
- Demonstrated Lean Manufacturing processes.
- Demonstrated Continuous Improvement processes.
- Demonstrated scheduling and process optimization for grain receiving.
- Strong leadership behaviors.
- Demonstrated safety and food safety champion behaviors.
- Grain storage management experience.
- Strong interpersonal skills (communication, coaching, setting expectations, providing feedback).
- Demonstrated problem solving/decision making skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team and lead others to work as a team.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office programs, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, etc.
- Bilingual in Japanese is a plus.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- This position requires physical efforts such as straining, pulling, lifting, working, and standing and walking on concrete floor.
- Exposure to elements such as noise, minable dust, cold and hot temperatures.
- Temperatures are more than 100 degrees and below freezing.
- Exposure to manufacturing equipment hazards, especially forklifts.
- Standing and walking on concrete floor.
- Work in elevated areas.
- Climbing of ladders.
