Vice President , Inpatient Nursing , you will be a key driver of positive change within the Department of Nursing, embodying MSK's values of respect, warmth, and dignity. Working closely with the Senior Vice President and Chief Nursing Executive (SVP/CNE), you will champion initiatives to align the Nursing department's vision, mission, and values with strategic objectives . Your focus will be on fostering a culture of innovation and excellence while ensuring the safe delivery of high-quality patient care across your assigned areas. Through strategic leadership, you will lead the planning, development, and implementation of progressive programs, policies, and practices that advance MSK's organizational and nursing goals, making a meaningful impact as a beacon of transformation within our healthcare community.
Role overview: - Program Planning and Development
- Collaborate with the SVP/CNE in formulating short-term and long-term strategies for nursing services.
- Develop strong relationships with MSK's clinical, scientific, educational, and administrative leadership.
- Oversee the implementation and evaluation of administrative and clinical processes.
- Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with physicians and the executive team.
- Serve as a member of the Hospital Incident Command System and assist in emergency preparedness planning.
- Direct oversight of nursing operations within assigned portfolio, ensuring high-quality and cost-effective patient care.
- Standardize practice across the portfolio and ensure optimal care coordination.
- Determine appropriate staffing structures to meet patient care needs.
- Establish baseline outcome metrics and oversee measures to strengthen collaboration within the hospital.
- Staff Leadership and Development
- Provide effective leadership to maintain a supportive and highly respected nursing team.
- Foster a healthy work environment geared towards professional development and continuous improvement.
- Oversee staff recruitment, training, performance evaluation, and leadership direction.
- Develop an environment conducive to a shared leadership governance structure.
- Financial Planning and Oversight
- Collaborate in planning, developing, and managing capital and operating budgets.
- Seek innovative ways to prioritize financial stewardship while ensuring quality service.
- Establish a multidisciplinary approach to improving patient care.
- Pursue professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations.
- Build and maintain relationships with governmental, regulatory, and industry colleagues.
Key qualifications: - Master's prepared with NYS and NJ RN license , and ANCC Magnet approved certification required .
- More than 10 years of progressive nursing leadership experience in a major academic medical center or academic teaching hospital - including 5+ years managing and leading inpatient nursing teams and operations across multiple clinical areas , with specific experience in oncology nursing .
Core Skills and Abilities : - Strong k nowledge of professional nursing standards and staffing , regulatory requirements, healthcare finance, employee relations, and creating a just culture environment.
- Proven ability to lead and transform teams, including identifying root causes and issues, and driving the team forward as a change agent. Demonstrated due diligence in leadership practices, ensuring thorough validation and accountability.
- Track record of performance and quality improvement in a high reliability organization.
- Enthusiasm, skills, and vision necessary for planning, onboarding, and overseeing new models of care.
- Demonstrated business acumen and ability to maintain a motivated nursing workforce aligned with MSK's vision, mission , and values .
