LAC Specialist Pay Range:
Compensation is based on the level and requirements of the role. Salary within our ranges may also be determined by your education and experience as required by the role, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. Typically, new team members join at the minimum to mid salary range.

LAC Specialist Summary
The LAC Specialist is responsible for assisting in the care and treatment of the Link Access Center consumers (sobering/ hold), including limited psycho-social interventions. The Specialist performs a wide variety of paraprofessional duties to assist in delivering services to the mentally ill and sobering adult clients. Facilitates monitoring of sobering and hold clients, cleaning, and general maintenance duties. May be assigned in certain settings to administer medications and perform basic nursing duties under the supervision of the Licensed Practical Nurse.
LAC Specialist Education:Must meet Oregon State (OARS) requirements and MHACBO certification as a "Qualified Mental Health Associate (QMHA)," meeting one of the following qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a behavioral science field
- A combination of at least three years relevant work, education, training, or experience.
LAC Specialist Experience: Experience to demonstrate the competencies to identify precipitating events:
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- understand mental health assessment, treatment, and service terminology and apply each of these concepts.
- Implement skills development strategies, and identify, implement, and coordinate the services and supports identified in an ISSP.
LAC Specialist Responsibilities:
- Read and understand each client’s individual service plan. The service plan will describe what basic services will be provided to the clients. These services include but are not limited to cooking, cleaning, laundry, arrange follow up services to mental health and or SUDS services, and assists clients to interface with other social service agencies.
- May be assigned to assume a temporary lead role in the absence of the Team Lead or at the discretion of the Adult Services Sobering Program Administrator, Program Manager, or Department Director.
- Provides discharge planning for hold and sobering clients.
- Completes admission and/or discharge process and paperwork for sobering and hold clients.
- Administer medications and performs basic nursing duties as prescribed by the physician and assigned by the Registered Nurse according to OAR 851-047-000.
- Participate in Individual Service Planning and acts as a member of the interdisciplinary treatment team.
- Provide therapeutic interventions with clients as prescribed by the Individual Service Plan.
- Observe and monitor sobering and hold clients, and document accordingly in the resident’s record as prescribed by the Individual Service Plan.
- Interacts with other members of the health care team.
- Monitor safety and security of the environment. May lead and/or assist in management of behavioral emergencies.
- Audit resident charts, documents services and activities in each resident’s electronic health record according to the requirements outlined below.
- Answer telephones.
- Inform Supervisor or Program Administrator of resident and facility needs and concerns.
- Maintain positive work environment and working relationships with Sobering Center peers, medical and rehabilitation staff.
- Attend and actively participate in general staff meetings.
- Maintain timely, complete written records of resident contacts, attendance and other documentation required by state and county regulations for residential care.
- Perform other duties as assigned that are consistent with level of experience and preparation.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Valid Oregon driver’s license, insurable driving record. Personal automobile insurance is required if clients are transported, or any agency business is conducted by the employee using his/her personal vehicle. Must meet the requirements to become MHACBO QMHA Certified. Certification must be maintained for the length of employment. Must maintain CPR/First Aid certification.
