The AIS Infrastructure Group consists of four civil/vertical construction companies. Our services include infrastructure improvement, heavy civil construction, vertical construction, site development for government and state agencies and private enterprise across the United States.
GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY
The Senior Estimator assists the Chief Estimator in development of cost estimates. The Senior Estimator will have broad experience and a thorough understanding of heavy civil construction estimating with a strong knowledge in Agtek and Heavy Jobs Estimating program processes for large scale construction projects. The Senior Estimator will be a self-starter and overseeing major estimates with little supervision. Must be able to meet critical deadlines, have the ability to lead and mentor others as well as to work as part of a team.
MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct initial analysis of drawings and specifications to ensure required documentation is present
- Develop full-scope estimates based on construction documents
- Critically analyze the bid documents and understand risk and opportunities and articulate those to management
- Organize the bid team, providing leadership and direction with regards to means and methods, schedule and strategy
- Gather and monitor actual cost vs. estimated cost, maintaining project cost history
- Provide detailed quantity take off of specific trades when required
- Create detailed crew and production cost estimates and review prices with Executives
- Review the progress of existing projects to ensure their completion within the parameters of the established project budget
EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Thorough understanding of heavy civil construction industry
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong math/accounting skills
- Ability to meet critical deadlines
- Desire to lead and mentor team members while functioning effectively as part of the overall team
- Strong negotiation skills

- Ability to multi-task and work on multiple bids concurrently
- Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality at all times
- Good time management skills and organizational skills
- Ability to read and interpret plans and specifications for heavy civil projects
- Ability to accurately obtain quantities for structural components
- Bachelors Degree - Engineering, Construction Management or similar technical training preferred
- 10 to 15 years of estimating and/or field experience
- Knowledge and efficiency in the following Software: Microsoft Office, Bid to Win, Primavera P6 or similar scheduling software, AutoCAD 3D, Agtek or similar Takeoff Software
- Prior field experience preferred
- USAC experience highly preferred
