About the Role & Team
The Special Effects team within Show Systems Studio is the creative mind behind the effects seen within many of our attractions, cruise lines and throughout our resorts. This role will assist with mock-up, design, production, installation, test/adjust and turnover of all special effects work for one or more attraction/project. This entails efforts both as an individual and while working with leaders of Special effects design and production staff.
This position will report to the Manager, Special Effects Design.
What You Will Do
- Assist overall project team in scope development from concept, design, delivery of all required feasibility mockups.
- Preparation and delivery of documentation to establish Effects scope on projects.
- Planning of overall design and production strategy.
- Collaborate with all integrated teams to ensure internal/external requirements are met.
- Field installation which could require travel
- Maintenance and operations training assistance & post turnover support.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Ability to aid Special Effects lead during concept & design of effects required to support the show, using appropriate creative and technical methods.
- Solidworks knowledge.
- Produce, install, maintain and fix theme park special effects equipment, per Designer Leads direction.
- Able to form a general plan to achieve stated goals and the ability to track to that plan to ensure goals are met.
- General knowledge of related technical teams and their application to the creation of special effects, optics, mechanics, materials processes etc.
Preferred Qualifications
- Three (3) years in Disney (or equivalent) themed entertainment special effect's team.
- Basic knowledge of effects installed at Disney theme park attractions.
- Knowledge of projection equipment, materials, and processes.
- Industrial design, manufacturing, operations and maintenance background with some special effects and projection system design experience.
- Exhibit proficiency in the job requirements and responsibilities,
- Ability to lead some budget items, schedule and design work
Education
- B.A., B.S. or equivalent valued but not vital. Theatrical training also desirable.

The hiring range for this position in California is $92,800 to $124,400 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
