Are you looking for an opportunity to implement processes and procedures to keep the state of Virginia safe? We are searching for individuals driven by safety to support state traffic operations.
VDOT’s Richmond District is searching for an individual to provide technical support to the District Traffic Operations Maintenance work unit. Perform asset life cycle replacement for traffic control devices (signs, pavement markings, pavement messages and pavement markers). Perform maintenance contract planning, development and monitoring, equipment utilization and planning and investigate and respond to customer concerns and complaints. Monitor and compare maintenance spend plans versus expenditures. Conduct analysis and expenditure projections. Capture, track and report work accomplishments. Utilize data to establish future needs.

Minimum Qualifications
• Knowledge of traffic control device specifications, standards, and policies.
• Considerable knowledge of federal and state highway and transportation rules, regulations, and policies
• Ability to develop and monitor budgets, service contracts and procurement activities.
• Valid Driver’s license
• Skill in the use of computers and software applications to include Microsoft Office applications, word, Excel and Powerpoint.
• Ability to read roadway and traffic control device construction plans.
• Knowledge of business principles and practices as they relate to inventory and accounting systems.
• Ability to analyze data, needs and problems, identify solutions, project consequences, and implement recommendations.
• Skill in providing and promoting good customer service to customers.
• Knowledge of engineering and Construction technology to effectively support maintenance and operation programs.
Additional Considerations
• VDOT certified Pavement marking inspector.
• Experience in transportation systems to include the application of engineering principles, practices, and procedures. Demonstrated leadership, management and interpersonal skills in a transportation operations or maintenance environment.
• A combination of training, experience, or education in Traffic Engineering, traffic Management, highway Design Principles or related field desired.
