POSITION SUMMARYThe security department exists to insure a safe and secure environment for all employees, patients and visitors and to secure those properties belonging to Williamson Health. Our duties include security response, non-violent intervention, public relations and awareness, visibility and traffic control. Our purpose is to respond to requests for assistance, report unsafe conditions and to provide necessary services to insure a safe and secure atmosphere at Williamson Health and the properties we service.
POSITION REQUIREMENTSFormal Education / Training:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) initial certification (8-hour training) within one year of employment; certification required bi-annually.
Workplace Experience:
At least one year general security, law enforcement, or military experience required if not currently licensed (minimum of three years preferred). Security experience in a hospital setting a plus.
Equipment and Skills Training:
Valid Tennessee driver's license; must be insurable.
Valid Tennessee armed or un-armed security guard state license required or obtained within 60 days of hire.
Physical Environment:
Hospital proper and grounds.

Walk and stand for extended periods of time.
Climb stairs in a timely manner (i.e. basement to penthouse in 2.5-minutes or less).
Assist nursing staff with lifting, and physically restraining patients

PERFORMANCE STANDARDS - Accepts and delivers valuable patient items according to departmental policy in a timely manner.
- Completes and documents hospital internal rounds in accordance with policy manual in a timely, thorough and professional manner.
- Conducts and documents external hospital and out building rounds with added attention to visitor, patient and employee needs including shift change patrol and maintenance checks.
- Knowledge of hospital areas (able to locate all key hospital areas).
- Reinforce hospital policies through observation and reporting procedures.
- Monitor security cameras and dispatch fellow officers to possible security related issues.
- Initiates lock down and unlock duties in accordance with security procedure manual.
- Observe and report safety or fire hazards in all construction areas.
- Conducts money handling procedures and bank runs in a professional, accurate, and timely manner.
- Provides visitors, patients and hospital personal directional and informational guidance in a professional and courteous manner.
- Exhibits a working knowledge of report writing program and all security equipment including surveillance and access control systems.
- Able to write accurate and appropriate event and incident reports.
- Completes IAHSS assignments in a timely manner.
