Registered Nurse
Requirements:
• Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques and facility policies and procedures.
• Prepares equipment and aids physician during treatments and examinations of residents.
• Observes residents, records significant conditions and reactions, and notifies supervisor, physician and family of residents condition and reaction to drugs, treatments, and significant incidents.
• Takes temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and other vital signs to detect deviations from normal and assess condition of resident.
• Assigns duties and coordinates nursing services on the resident unit to ensure resident needs are met in accordance with instructions of Physician, federal and state regulations and facility procedures.
• Consults with Shift Supervisor on nursing problems and interpretation of facility policies to insure resident needs are met.
• Report all complaints or unusual problems to supervisor. Assist with completion of facility complaint report.
• Participates in orientation and training and evaluating of nursing personnel.
• Evaluates nursing activities to ensure resident care, staff relations, and efficiency of service.
• Assigns duties and coordinates nursing service on the resident unit.
• Observes nursing care and visits residents to ensure that nursing care is carried out as directed, and treatment administered in accordance with Physician's instructions.
• Assumes responsibility and maintains records for unit narcotics.
• Inspects resident rooms and the unit for cleanliness and comfort.
• Responsible to document admissions, discharges, transfers and incident reports per facility policies and procedures.
• Participate in the care plan process, completes nursing assessments and resident care plans accurately and timely on assigned residents.
• Completes special projects and audits at the direction of the Supervisor, CCC, or Director of Nursing.
• Maintain all educational requirements for the State of Michigan to keep license current. Attend facility in services and ward conferences as assigned.
• Maintain resident confidentiality; treat residents with kindness, dignity and respect; know and comply with all Resident's Rights rules; and promptly report all resident accidents and injuries to charge nurse.
• Must have regular and attendance.
• All other duties as assigned.
Our building can house 133 residents. We are county owned. We are divided into 7 households, with no more that 21 residents in a household. (a household is a unit within the building.) Each of our households during the day are staffed with 3 CNA's, 1 LPN/RN, a cook, housekeeper, etc
The day shift staffing to resident ratio is 3:21 (CNA) and 1:21 (LPN/RN)
The night shift staffing to resident ratio is 2:21 (CNA) and 1:21 or 2:42 (LPN/RN)
