Concrete Paving Grade Check
SCOPE
Southwest Concrete Paving is looking for energetic, career oriented, team members to help grow, a high-quality survey team supporting concrete pavement and associated substrate construction operations. The grade checker will assist with all aspects of site survey for the concrete paving and associated base and subbase layers, as well as control for demolition and other associated items. This position will be a travelling position where the qualified applicant will be required to integrate and travel with a paving crew to assist with all functions of project layout and control. The individual must be able to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment. Some night and weekend work will be required.
The ideal candidate will have at minimum a basic understanding of surveying techniques, hardware, and software equipment, and be able to read and understand project plans and specifications. Training and furthering education will be provided, and the ideal candidate would have an interest in 3D model making software.

PRIMARY DUTIES
- Experience Trimble, Topcon, or, Leica Software products is preferred but not required;
- Ability to use Leica; GPS and conventional surveying/layout equipment;
- Knowledge of and working experience with basic equipment such as total stations, radio communicators, data collectors,
- Daily set-up, tear down, and maintenance of equipment
- Computer skills involved in submittal of daily files including downloading of data, preparation/organization of field data;
- Create and submit basic reports from data collection to download to report prep
- Analyzing information and evaluating results to choose the best solutions and solve problems;
- Grade checking during pre-construction and construction to determine compliance
- Observing, receiving, and otherwise obtaining information from all relevant sources;
- Proficiency with Microsoft Software is Required
- Knowledge of utilizing string-less 3D paving preferred, but not required.
- Reading and understanding of project plans and specifications
BACKGROUND
- Perform construction layout, existing topos, and as-built data;
- Plan and conduct ground surveys designed to establish baselines, elevations and other geodetic measurements;
- Establish survey control for use in construction projects;
- Assist Project Managers, Project Superintendents, and Project Engineers, and Quality Control as required;
- Perform additional assignments per Managers direction
