Lexington Country Place is seeking a Dietician to join our team!
Schedule:
Part-time (20 hours per week)
Duties & Responsibilities
· Review the dietary requirements of each resident admitted to the facility and assist the attending physician in planning for the resident's prescribed diet plan.
· Review and develop a plan of correction for any food and nutrition services deficiencies noted during state/federal surveys and provide a written copy of such plan to the Administrator for his/her approval.
· Assist the Certified Dietary Manager in planning menus, work schedules, etc., as required.
· Assist in developing diet plans for individual residents based on the comprehensive assessment and care plan along with the resident's preferences and stated goals.
· Interview residents or family members to obtain diet history as necessary.
· Involve the resident/family in planning dietary objectives and goals for the resident.
· Participate in obtaining history of resident's food likes and dislikes.
· Review departmental complaints and grievances from personnel and make written reports to the Administrator of action(s) taken.
· Review therapeutic and regular diet plans and menus to assure they are in compliance with the physician's orders.
· Assist in planning the food and nutrition portion of the resident's discharge plan.
· Perform administrative duties such as completing necessary forms, reports, evaluations, studies, etc., to assure control of equipment and supplies.
· Coordinate food and nutrition services activities with other related departments (i.e., nursing, environmental, activities, social services, etc.) as necessary.
· Maintain communication with families and residents. Assist in planning regular and special diet menus as prescribed by the attending physician.
· Develop and implement person-centered education programs involving food and nutrition services for all facility staff.
· Assist the food and nutrition services staff in the development and use of departmental procedures governing activities, equipment, supplies, etc.
· Meet with administration, medical and nursing staff as well as other related departments in planning food and nutrition services programs and activities.
· Oversee the budgeting and purchasing of food and supplies and food preparation, service and storage.
· Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement (QAPI) when food and nutrition services are involved.
· Develop, implement and maintain an ongoing quality assurance program for the food and nutrition services department; assist the QAPI Committee in identifying and correcting any food and nutrition services deficiencies.
· Visit residents periodically to evaluate the quality of meals served, likes and dislikes, mealtimes, bedtime snacks, food substitutions, etc.
· Participate in facility state/federal surveys (inspections) as directed.
· Ensure that all food and nutrition services personnel are aware of changes in the resident's care plan when dietary needs are modified or changed.
· Review nurses' notes to determine if the dietary care plan is being followed; discuss problem areas with the Director of Nursing.
· Be sure that substitute foods of similar nutritive value are provided to residents who refuse foods served.
Committee Functions
· Evaluate and implement recommendations from established committees as they may pertain to food and nutrition services.
· Serve on, participate in and attend various committees of the facility as required and as appointed by the Administrator.
· Attend department head meetings, etc., as scheduled or as called.
Miscellaneous Functions:
· Assist in the development of the facility's emergency food and nutrition services plan.
· Make scheduled inspections of all food and nutrition services functions to assure that quality control measures are continually maintained.
Requirements:
Education
· Must possess, as a minimum, a bachelor's degree in a nationally accredited nutrition or dietetics program from an accredited college or university.
· Has completed at least 900 hours of supervised dietetics practice under the supervision of a Registered Dietitian or nutrition professional.
· Is licensed or certified as a dietitian or nutrition professional by the state or is recognized as a Registered Dietitian by the Commission on Dietetic Registration or its successor organization.
