We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Accountant to join our dynamic team and support our financial operations as we experience rapid growth.
Position Summary: The Senior Accountant will actively participate in the daily operations of the four-member accounting department. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, excellent computational and communication skills, and a keen eye for detail. The position reports directly to the Accounting Manager. They will be trained, supported and supervised in the early going by the company’s Fractional CFO (former Controller).
Key Responsibilities:
- Management Reporting:
- Prepare and disseminate regular and ad hoc reports on financial & operating metrics.
- Analyze and report on job costs for major manufacturing and installation projects.
- Sales and Use Tax:
- Maintain sales/use tax schedules.
- Prepare and file sales/use tax returns in multiple states.
- Be the go-to company resource on sales/use tax issues.
- General Ledger Accounting:
- Prepare, review and post journal entries.
- Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations.
- Calculate commissions and bonuses.
- Assist with external audits and internal control reviews.
- Accounts Payable and Receivable:
- Assist with vendor credentialing.
- Support the Billing Coordinator and Accounts Payable Specialist as needed.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, CPA or CMA preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of progressive accounting experience.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting and internal controls.
- Experience in multi-state sales/use tax filing required.
- Experience in job costing and inventory control.
- Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Experience in ERP implementations.
- Experience in manufacturing and service industries, preferably back-up power generation and/or EV charging equipment.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
