Job Description:SUMMARY
We are seeking a talented and enthusiastic Creative Manager & Visual Designer who is responsible for supporting the Creative Services Team as well as managing creative product and workflow for the University from early concept stages through production, printing, and design output stages. The Manager/Designer will also play a pivotal role in art direction, building community partnerships and training, and brand implementation. We are looking for someone with a strong creative portfolio and who is gifted in project management; someone who can partner technical design acumen with people skills, clear and professional communication, active listening skills, time management, problem-solving capabilities, a social justice stance, and empathy. This job consists of 60% project management and 40% design work.
As an integral part of the Office of Communications and Strategic Relations (OSCR), you will report to the Creative Director and work on a team with a Lead Creative Designer and Multimedia Specialist.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Creating design assets for a wide range of marketing and University deliverables including print collateral, social media graphics, brand templates, emails, event invitations, handbooks and website graphics.
- Managing the workflow for all creative production; you will be responsible for ensuring work is in line with overall creative brief, holding regular production meetings, tracking timelines, projects, deadlines, expenditure and budget, while influencing other stakeholders to support successful outcomes.
- Scoping out and determining the feasibility of producing final creative work in a variety of media; supporting creative research and the discovery phase before proposals begin.
- Maintaining quality standards across the production of all creative work.
- Supporting the Creative Director, while working with partners across the University to create a shared vision.
- Implementing brand standards across the University through communications and design and brand training, workshops and design support meetings for staff.
- Communicating and liaising between Creative Services and other University departments.
- Managing vendor relationships; sourcing quotes, and producing estimates for work to be produced. Negotiating with external suppliers.
- Supporting the organization of digital multimedia assets and maintaining the online photo library, including standardized file naming and tagging.
- Responding to Zendesk tickets for the creative team (i.e., "project requests") in a timely and responsive manner.
- Improving the creative workflow process; efficient streamlining while maintaining the highest quality output.
- Ensuring the correct licensing of artistic material across all formats and locations within agreed timings.
- Stay current on industry trends in creative production as well as wellness, innovative media and education fields.
- Assisting with pre-production and production of photo and video shoots. This can range from coordinating with faculty/staff and/or students, room/location bookings, helping set-up and take-down lighting and video equipment as well assisting in art direction for video and photo shoots.
Job Requirements:QUALIFICATIONS - What We're Looking For
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, New Media or related field preferred
- A minimum of five years' experience in creative design (or equivalent) and project management.
Skills
- Expert proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and Canva
- Expert proficiency with complicated design, printing jobs, and print vendors.
- Demonstrated experience in designing email templates and responsive design experience.
- Experience with a Digital Asset Management (DAM) systems
- High degree of proficiency in Asana, Zendesk, Mailchimp, Greenvelope (or equivalent), and Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to communicate technical terms to non-designers in a clear way.
- Ready to pivot and brainstorm alternative steps forward in a production
- Ability and willingness to locally travel for video shoots or production needs (5%).
- Video editing skills are a big plus!

LOCATION
This is a hybrid position, expected to be onsite 2-3 days per week, along with special events.
Additional Information:WAGES AND BENEFITS
Salary: $67,000 - $73,000
CIIS offers a comprehensive benefits package.
