What You Will Do:
This position is located at Community Memorial Hospital in Ojai, CA. Must be able to work assigned shifts onsite hospital Emergency/Main Admitting; 12-hour shifts, 8-hour shifts, 1st, 2nd and 3rd shift as assigned. Some holiday and weekend work when needed. Work a stand-by rotation monthly.
Provide efficient, timely, courteous registration services to ensure a high level of customer service.
Create a positive impression for each patient, family member, visitor or staff while performing the tasks of pre-admitting, admitting and/or registering, routing or escorting patients, family or visitors.
Primary responsibility is to assist patients and their families in accessing services and to act as an advocate and navigator until the patient is handed off to clinical staff.
Provides excellent customer service to all individuals.
Performs registration, arrival, and check-in functions upon a patient presenting for service.
Collect all necessary patient, demographic, and insurance information/documentation to ensure a
patient is completely registered within the patient registration systems.
Obtain all necessary patient signatures and information at time of arrival.
Escalates any advanced or complex registrations to a more experienced team member.
Performs real-time insurance eligibility and benefits verification for all patients.
Verifies insurance benefits; explain financial requirements to the patient or patient
representative, and collects any outstanding patient portion at the point of service.
Performs collections and cashiering functions and refers patients to Financial Counseling when appropriate.
Ensures that all activities related to hospital collection activities meet department requirements.
Serve as preceptors/trainers to orientee.
Serves as a mentor to new associates and assist in new employee orientation.
Performs Inpatient Admission Admitting duties that include determining in and out of network benefits, review of the EMR Inpatient status tracking feature and the attainment of Important Message for Medicare patient signatures.
Performs carve outs as it relates to observation admission services, determines in and out of network benefits as it relates to observation stays, review of the EMR Observation status tracking feature and the attainment of patient signatures as they relate to observation patient stays.
Performs other duties as assigned.

One (1) year of hospital Patient Access experience
One (1) year of Customer Service experience
Data Entry experience
Familiarity to Health Plans/Insurances
Bilingual in English and Spanish
The annual salary range for this position is $37,600.00-$56,400.00. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, security clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
