The Optum Technology Digital Leadership team is transforming Optum to be an industry-leading Consumer brand, delivering personalized digital solutions that empower direct to consumer digital first experiences that educate, guide and empower consumers to the right care across all lines of business for Optum.
The Senior Director of Identity Solution is a key leadership role, responsible for the digital consumer experience, customer success and security for enterprise identity solutions that will serve as the company’s next generation AuthN solution. Realize the vision of creating the “most inclusive and helpful identity in healthcare”. You will be part of UHG Consumer Engineering Organization that works across UHC and Optum consumer digital assets to serve their authentication needs.
Candidates for this role will be responsible for driving the engagement and discussions with Identity stakeholders, UHC and Optum Business leadership, Senior OT leadership (ELT/SLT) and represent identity engineering in leadership meetings, present engineering roadmaps and critical initiative updates.

Primary Responsibilities:
- Define the digital technology strategy for the identity services and help to build frictionless, secure, and helpful authentication experiences
- Accountable to lead engineering team to drive platform strategy , identity security posture for organization and outcomes like success rate for user registration and login
- Influences and works across multiple departments or LOBs to solve broader organizational issues
- Create a data driven culture using real time site telemetry and consumer insights to continuously improve the performance and reliability of the sites
- Collaborate and drive discussions with product and customer success Ops team to understand user experience challenges in the context of Authentication and Authorization and propose solutions
- Formulate and lead both near-term and long-term technology operations processes and lead automation efforts to reduce manual efforts and improve quality including issue and problem management
- Determines the capabilities and gaps of a department or function and the options for maximizing resources
- Establish best security standards for an identity provider solution, security analytics capability leveraging AI/ML for the security data flowing through security kill chain
- Work across identity platform teams to drive strategic initiatives to improve consumer digital experience
- Conduct mandatory post-mortem activities for each project completion and discuss outcomes with senior executives
- Respond to platform emergencies, alerts, and escalations from Customer Support
- Responsible to build strong communication strategy across UHC and Optum

Required Qualifications:
- 15+ years of progressive product engineering leadership experiences
- 8+ years of leading direct to consumer digital engineering teams delivering direct to consumer solutions (Digital, eCommerce and mobile)
- History of driving digital product delivery and successfully leading engineering through a product model culture across multiple brands or lines of business
- Demonstrated success leading through (and developing) other leaders
- Ability to work through influence and assume accountability to drive business outcomes
- Background in creating new consumer facing digital assets and/or new go to market digital channels
- Success leading a digital delivery for a leading consumer brand
- Experience using modern software engineering technologies and practices including, but not limited to: public cloud (AWS, Azure & GCP); micro-services; CI/CD; DevSecOps
- Track record of success leading large-scale global digital organizations using design thinking principles that resulted in amazing consumer experiences
- Demonstrated history of applying product and engineering practices to drive business value
- Ability to communicate effectively to both functionally and technical, CEO’s, CIOs, globally distributed audiences
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience of managing customer success teams for consumer products
- Experience working on Identity solution: a deep understanding of the Identity products or services. Open ID Connect protocol, Identity Federation and SSO methodologies
- Experience of working on tools and technologies in the space of Identity and Access Management solution like Azure AD B2C, Okta, etc.
- Practical experience with one or more programming or scripting languages
- Clear understanding of security best practices
- Technical writing skills (creating flow diagrams, end user documentation, etc.)

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
